On August 29, 2023, at approximately 9:22 p.m., officers from the Oxnard Police Department and EMS personnel responded to a call for service regarding a traffic collision involving two vehicles at Colonia Road and McKinley Avenue.
As officers were responding to the area they were told that the driver of one of the vehicles was fleeing the area. Upon arrival, officers located two vehicles at the intersection with major damage to both vehicles. The driver of the 2017 Toyota RAV4 was still inside the vehicle suffering from multiple injuries. That driver was transported to VCMC where he was listed in critical condition. Officers contacted an adult male in the area who matched the description of the subject who was seen fleeing from the traffic collision. The adult male was interviewed and said he was in the 2006 Audi 4-door during the traffic collision.
Preliminary investigation indicates that one of the vehicles was travelling on Colonia Road and the other vehicle was travelling northbound on McKinley Avenue when the collision occurred. Based on the initial investigation, officers believe alcohol was a contributing factor to the collision. Traffic Investigators responded to take over the investigation and the investigation is ongoing.
