SUBJECT: Man Shot, Dies in Oxnard

On January 1, 2024, at approximately 12:10 AM, officers from the Oxnard Police Department responded to the 2100 block of Sierra Way regarding a shooting victim in the street. Officers and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel arrived on scene and located a 34-year-old male, later identified as Jose Juarez, suffering from a single gunshot wound. Officers began life saving measures and EMS Personnel quickly arrived and transported Juarez to the Ventura County Medical Center.
Unfortunately, despite life saving measures at the hospital Juarez succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. This marked the first homicide in the city Oxnard for 2024.
The Oxnard Police Department Major Crimes Unit has been responsible for the investigation. New leads have been developed in the investigation and investigators are seeking additional information and the public’s support. The city of Oxnard offers a reward of $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of any individuals responsible for committing homicides within the city.
