On January 1, 2025, at approximately 2:12 p.m., officers from the Oxnard Police Department and EMS personnel responded to an injury traffic collision involving three vehicles at the intersection of Wooley Road and Commercial Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers located a Ford F-350 pick-up with major collision damage in the middle of the intersection. Two additional pick-ups, a Ford Ranger and Chevy Silverado, both with major collision damage, came to a rest on opposite sides of the intersection. Six occupants, including two passengers from the Ford F-350, two from the Ford Ranger, and two from the Chevy Silverado, were being treated for injuries. The injuries ranged from complaints of pain to critical. The occupants were transported to area hospitals for further care. The driver of the Ford Ranger is listed in critical condition. The driver of the Ford F-350, Francisco Carreto, remained on scene and was not injured.
Initial investigation revealed Francisco Carreto was driving his Ford F-350 westbound on Wooley Road. He entered the intersection of Commercial Avenue against a red light and collided into the Ford Ranger and Chevy Silverado, both of which had been crossing Wooley Road on green lights.
Traffic Investigators responded to the collision scene and took over the investigation. Carreto was evaluated for signs of alcohol and/or drug use. Impairment was suspected and he was arrested for driving under the influence. Speed was also believed to be a contributing factor to the collision, however, the investigation to determine cause is ongoing.
