SUBJECT: Juvenile Arrested for Firearms Possession, Juvenile’s Mother Cited for Criminal Firearm Storage

On September 25th, at approximately 9:56 p.m., officers from the Oxnard Special Enforcement Unit (Gang Unit) contacted juveniles in a vehicle for a traffic violation. During the contact with the juveniles, the driver admitted to being in possession of his mother’s firearm. The juvenile was also unlicensed, and had been driving his mother’s vehicle. The juvenile was removed from the vehicle and the officers recovered a Glock, 9-millimeter, semi-automatic, handgun. The juvenile was ultimately arrested for felony firearms violations. A second juvenile that was in the vehicle was released at the scene. The juvenile that was arrested was cited and released to his mother who was issued a citation for criminal firearm storage.
