On February 14, 2025, at approximately 6:06 a.m., officers from the Oxnard Police Department responded with Emergency Medical Services to an injury traffic collision involving two vehicles and a pedestrian near the intersection of Hueneme Road and Salvador Drive. Officers and EMS arrived and found a male subject lying in the roadway of Hueneme Road. The subject was transported to the Ventura County Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Based on the initial investigation, a 70-year-old male resident of Oxnard was walking in the eastbound traffic lanes of Hueneme Road when he was struck by a Toyota Tacoma driven by Jose Orozco Torres. Jose Orozco Torres immediately pulled to the right shoulder and parked. Before he could check on the subject, a Toyota Matrix, driven by Nicolas Palacios Avila, also struck the subject. Nicolas Palacios Avila also pulled to the right shoulder and parked. Both Orozco Torres and Palacios Avila remained on scene and cooperated with investigators. It does not appear speed, alcohol and/or drugs were contributing factors to this collision. The investigation is ongoing. The name of the pedestrian has been withheld pending next of kin notification.
