Six impaired drivers arrested during DUI checkpoint and DUI patrols.
On February 11, 2024, between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., the Oxnard Police Department partnered with the California Highway Patrol and conducted a DUI/Driver’s License checkpoint on Victoria Avenue, north of Fifth Street. Additional officers were also deployed city-wide to apprehend impaired drivers. In total, the operations resulted in six arrests for impaired driving and forty citations issued.
Checkpoint locations are based on a history of crashes and DUI arrests. The primary purpose of checkpoints is not to make arrests but to promote public safety by deterring drivers from driving impaired.
Funding for this checkpoint and DUI enforcement patrols was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic
