On April 21, 2025, at about 9:28 a.m., the Oxnard Police Department responded to check the well-being of the subject inside a restroom at a City of Oxnard building in the 200 block of S. C St. Upon arrival, officers located a 25-year-old male who had sustained a gunshot wound. Oxnard City Fire personnel were in the immediate area, rendered aid, and ultimately pronounced the subject deceased.
The decedent from this incident was an off-duty security guard from a City-contracted security company. There does not appear to be any foul play as this incident is still under investigation. No other city employees were involved and no one else was injured. There is not a threat to the public at this time.
The Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene and will later conduct an autopsy to determine the manner and cause of death. The victim’s name is currently being withheld pending the notification of the next-of-kin.
