DETAILS:
On June 17, 2019, at approximately 1:13 A.M., the Oxnard Police Department responded to a possible commercial burglary in progress to a convenience store in the 1600 block of South Oxnard Blvd.
When Officers arrived on scene, they heard objects being broken inside of the business and observed a suspect inside. Several additional officers were dispatched to the location. Officers set up a containment around the business and attempted to get the suspect to surrender. The suspect refused to surrender and attempted to hide and barricade himself in the ceiling of the business.
The Oxnard Police Department K-9 Unit, Special Weapons and Tactics (S.W.A.T.) Team responded to assist with the incident. Pepper ball and chemical agents were introduced into the business in efforts to get the suspect to surrender to officers.
Officers were able to take Frankie Lindsey into custody, an 18 year old Port Hueneme resident, after four hour standoff with the assistance of an Oxnard Police K-9. Lindsey was arrested for assault on a police dog, resisting arrest, and commercial burglary, a felony. No officers were injured during the incident and the K-9 suffered a minor laceration to his head.
