En noviembre 30, 2017, en 4:00 p.m., the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office contacted the Oxnard Police Department to advise that the passenger involved in the collision, 18-year-old Rosalinda Zavala of Oxnard, died today despite receiving medical treatment.

DETALLES:
En noviembre 28, 2017, en aproximadamente 4:54 p.m., officers from the Oxnard Police Department and EMS personnel responded to a single vehicle collision which occurred on Edison Drive south of McWane Blvd. Cuando llegaron los agentes, they discovered that a 2010 Chrysler Sebring, driven by 20-year-old Oxnard resident Leticia Jennifer Medina, had collided with a gate. Medina sustained minor injuries however the passenger, 18-year-old Rosalinda Zavala of Oxnard, sustained major injuries. Zavala was immediately transported to the Ventura County Medical Center where she is listed in critical condition. Medina was also transported to the hospital but was released after receiving treatment due to minor injuries.
Basado en la investigación inicial, it was determined that the Medina was driving northbound in the southbound lane of Edison Drive south of McWane Blvd. Zavala was seated in the right front passenger seat filming vehicles in the area. As Medina continued northbound along the west curb line, the vehicle collided with a large metal gate which penetrated the passenger compartment and possibly struck Zavala.
