En 9/9/14 en aproximadamente 2040 horas, Oxnard police officers were dispatched to a stabbing victim in the parking lot at 960 Norte Ventura carretera. Police offices and EMS personnel found the victim, 23 year old Nathaniel Willis, suffering from numerous stab wounds. Willis was transported to the Ventura County Medical center in serious but stable condition.

According to statements obtained by police, the victim was attacked by three to four suspects that were described as Hispanic males in their late 20’s to early 30’s. The suspects fled the area after the attack. El motivo del asalto es desconocida en este momento.

En 9-16-14, en aproximadamente 2143 horas, officers of the Oxnard Police Department were dispatched to a stabbing victim in the 2400 block of Grapevine Dr. Officers arrived and contacted the victim who sustained two stab wounds to his abdomen. The victim identified the suspect as Scott Carlson, 56-residente de Oxnard años de edad. The victim advised he was involved in an argument with the suspect and was stabbed during the altercation. DETALLES: The Oxnard Police Department partnered once again with California Lutheran University to administer a Community Survey to assess and evaluate public safety perceptions, interactions, servicio, and experiences. Like its 2010 predecessor, this survey used an academic scientific method to obtain a representative sample from our city population. Every neighborhood in Oxnard – north, south, east, and west – was surveyed, and the survey was available in both English and Spanish.

The survey instrument and data collection instructions were created to provide a representative sample of our diverse community and population. The steps for data collection as designed by Dr. Jamshid Damooei, Co-Director of the Center for Leadership & Values at the Cal Lutheran University School of Management, ensured that every household in Oxnard had the same chance of being a respondent. The Oxnard Police Community Survey and data collection instructions help yield a 3% margin of error and a confidence level of 99%.

“It is important to continuously evaluate and assess our job and service to the community. The data we collected provides valuable information from the public on police services, and allows for us to see longitudinal changes in survey themes since the last survey was administered, and further informs our priorities moving forward,” said Jeri Williams, Oxnard Chief of Police.

As Professor Damooei presented at tonight’s Oxnard City Council meeting (Octubre 28, 2014), the Oxnard Police is confident that the survey proved to be an objective means to determine the community’s perception of police services, and will provide the Department with the ability to assess how we can continue to further our Department’s Mission Statement: La protección de nuestra Comunidad con un servicio excepcional.

En noviembre 2, 2014 en 9:04 pm, Oxnard Police officers were called regarding an attempted robbery and stabbing that had occurred in the area of the 400 block of Teakwood Street.

La víctima, a 25-year-old Oxnard resident, told officers that he was assaulted as suspects attempted to take property from him. Oxnard police officers and EMS personnel responded to the Denny’s restaurant. The female was transported to Saint John’s Hospital with a serious, but non-life threatening gunshot wound to her leg.

Since yesterday morning, Oxnard Police Department Investigators from the Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) and the Major Crimes Unit have been investigating an incident that left a 35-year old female with a gunshot wound to her leg and a 35-year old male with multiple gunshot wounds. The male victim had been receiving critical care at the Ventura County Medical Center for his numerous injuries. Late last night, the male victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. His name is being withheld until his family can be notified.

This is Oxnard’s tenth homicide of 2014 and the fourth in the last five (5) weeks. There are no indications that any of these four (4) homicides are connected in any way. The motive for this homicide is not known and investigators are continuing with the investigation.

DETALLES: En enero 14, 2015, en aproximadamente 5:30 a.m., officers from the Oxnard Police Department were dispatched to a call of shots fired in the 5200 bloque de Perkins carretera. A la llegada, officers located a male shooting victim in a parked vehicle. Medical personnel attended to the victim who ultimately died as a result of his injuries.

Preliminary investigation indicates this was not gang related or an act of random violence. The Oxnard Police Department is currently working with the Coroner’s Office in order to positively identify the male victim. The identity of the deceased person as well as the cause and manner of death will be released by the Ventura County Coroner’s Office. As of this release, no suspect(s)have been identified and the motive remains unknown.

En enero 16, 2015, en alrededor 9:25 PM, officers from the Oxnard Police Department and EMS personnel responded to the train tracks along the 800 bloque de N. Oxnard Boulevard in reference to a subject being struck by a moving train. The victim was found deceased.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the pedestrian was walking northbound on the railroad tracks when she was struck by the moving train.

The name of the deceased victim is being withheld pending notification of her family.

El domingo, Enero 18, 2015, en alrededor 1:00 a.m., officers from the Oxnard Police Department and EMS personnel responded to the intersection of Vineyard Avenue and Heather Street in reference to an injury traffic collision.

En la escena, officers found that a Jeep Cherokee, driven by Darrah Caprarelli, was traveling westbound on Vineyard Avenue and rear-ended a parked sport utility vehicle. This collision caused the SUV to collide into two additional vehicles parked along the shoulder. All of the vehicles involved sustained extensive damage.

Driver Caprarelli was treated at the scene for minor injuries and was arrested on suspicion of DUI as her blood alcohol level was found to be over three times the legal limit of .08. Caprarelli was also driving with a suspended driver’s license stemming from a previous DUI conviction. She was booked into the Ventura County Jail. There were no other injuries as a result of this collision.

The Oxnard Police Department wants to remind everyone to report drunk drivers by calling 911.

DETALLES: En 1/19/15 en aproximadamente 1723 horas, Oxnard police officers responded to a stabbing victim in the 600 block of Teresa Street. La víctima, 26 year old Saul Anchando, was stabbed in the chest and transported by ambulance to the Ventura County Medical Center in grave condition. Anchando underwent emergency surgery and is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) listed in critical condition.

Se determinó que la balacera ocurrió dentro de un negocio abandonado, Anchando was riding his bike with his brother when the suspect approached them. The suspect grabbed an HP laptop notebook computer Anchando was holding and fled on foot. Anchando ran after the suspect to retrieve his property. The suspect turned and stabbed Anchando in the chest. The suspect then fled the area with the computer.

Investigators from the Oxnard police department’s Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) responded to the scene and began investigating the incident. Investigators learned that the suspect stole a brand new HP 15-r029wm black Notebook computer laptop from the victim. Here are pictures of the same model HP Notebook stolen by the suspect:

Esta mañana, a witness to the incident sat with a police composite sketch artist and was able to provide information of what the suspect looked like. Attached is a copy of the composite drawing of the suspect.

Once again, the suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 5’-7” tall, contextura delgada, mid 30’s,shaved head, no facial hair (clean shaven), black and gray tattoos on his neck and arms, dark colored baggy shirt, baggy blue jeans, white and black Converse “Chuck Taylor” shoes, medium complexion. We are asking the public not to confront persons who they believe look similar to the composite drawing. You are asked to contact the Oxnard police department by calling 911 so a police officer can make contact with the person.

VCU investigators are also looking to interview a potential witness to the crime. The potential witness was driving a champagne colored 2000-2006 Chevrolet Tahoe or GMC Yukon, with dark tinted windows and black after-market rims. This vehicle was seen driving on Teresa Street towards the direction of the robbery seconds before the incident occurred. The occupants of this vehicle are asked to call Detective Jonathan Ballow at (805) 288-3289. You can call and remain anonymous, but still provide valuable information to assist investigators.
