(Oxnard, California) Hoy en alrededor 8:59 a.m., Oxnard PD officers received a call of shots being fired into an apartment in the 200 bloque de Vineyard Avenue West. When officers arrived they located an apartment that had several bullet holes through the front door. Officers checked the residence but nobody was home. Officers conducted an extensive search of the area in an effort to locate the suspect.

Durante el curso de la investigación, investigators with the OPD violent crimes unit (VCU) were able to identify the suspect who fired into the apartment as Robert Carnes 9/7/93. Members of the OPD special enforcement unit (SU) were able to locate Carnes leaving his residence which is located in the 2400 block of Hill Rose Place. Officers took Carnes into custody without incident. Carnes was in possession of a loaded firearm. He was booked into the Ventura County Jail for various weapons violations and for shooting into an inhabited dwelling.

(Oxnard, California) The investigation into the homicide that occurred on Sunday, Junio 3, 2012 at Samuel and La Cañada Avenues continues. La víctima, 26-year-old Jorge “George” Rodriguez, died from a gunshot wound to the neck.

(Oxnard, California) En julio 14, 2012, en 7:03 p.m., Oxnard PD officers and emergency services personnel received a call regarding an injury traffic collision in the northbound lanes of Victoria Avenue north of Via Marina Avenue. Officers located a brown Dodge Ram pick-up, driven by Kris Helms, 36, de Oxnard. Helms struck a bicyclist, 55-year-old Robert Escobar of Oxnard. Escobar sustained serious head injuries as a result of the collision and was transported to Ventura County Medical Center where he underwent emergency surgery and was listed in critical condition. Helms was not injured.

Preliminary investigation indicates that Escobar was riding his bicycle northbound on Victoria Avenue and was in the bicycle lane. The pickup, driven by Helms, was also northbound. The pick-up sideswiped the bicycle causing Escobar to be thrown several feet and strike his head on the pavement. He was not wearing a helmet.

Helms was given field sobriety tests at the scene and was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and causing bodily injury to another person. He was booked into the Ventura County Jail.

The investigation into this collision continues.

(Oxnard, California) ACTUALIZACIÓN – Hoy a las 11:50 a.m., Oxnard PD officers arrested a 14-year-old Hispanic male in this case. His name will not be released because he is a juvenile. The suspect was arrested at his home in Oxnard. He will be charged with false imprisonment (236 PC) and touching an intimate part of another person while that person is unlawfully restrained (243.4(un) PC). He will be booked into Ventura County Juvenile Hall today.

On Sunday July 15, 2012 en alrededor 11:30 p.m., Oxnard police officers were dispatched to Ben’s Laundromat located at 501 Cooper Road in Oxnard regarding a sexual assault committed against a 31-year-old adult female.

The female told officers that she had been inside the laundromat near closing time when a Hispanic male entered the business and sexually assaulted her. Surveillance cameras captured the assault on video. The suspect fled the scene but was described as a Hispanic male, 15 a 18 años de edad, with short black hair, wearing a blue short-sleeve t-shirt and black shorts.

DETALLES:
En agosto 18, 2012 en aproximadamente 7:38 P.M, oficiales fueron enviados a la 700 block of Cedar Street regarding shots being fired in the area. When officers arrived they contacted a witness who advised that a male subject fired several shots at a vehicle and then fled into a residence in the 1400 bloque del Sur Calle “F”.

Officers surrounded the residence and made several announcements for the occupants of the residence to exit. Two occupants exited the residence and told officers that an unknown male subject was inside their residence. When the subject refused to come out of the residence, members of the Oxnard Police Department’s SWAT Team responded. después de aproximadamente 30 acta, el tema, later identified as Ricardo Garcia, exited the residence and was taken into custody without further incident.

En 10/02/12 en aproximadamente 0214 horas, Oxnard police officers were dispatched to a call of a vehicle burglary in progress in the area of the 1200 bloque de Gracia Dr.. Cuando llegaron los agentes, they observed a subject later identified as Oxnard resident, Jeremy Daniel Arevalo, 24 año, looking through property inside of a vehicle that did not belong to him.

The Oxnard Police Department Traffic Unit and District Teams conducted a citywide stolen vehicle saturation/enforcement detail on Thursday, Octubre 11, 2012 desde 4:00 A.M. a 8:00 A.M.

The City of Oxnard experienced a spike in stolen vehicles in the month of August with a majority of those being to open/unlocked vehicles or vehicles that were left running and unattended. Entre 08/15/12 y 10/03/12, había 98 vehículos robados en toda la ciudad.

En octubre 25, 2012 en aproximadamente 4:15 p.m., officers are dispatched to the 3000 block of Albany Drive reference a fight where subjects were reportedly armed with a hammer and a wrench.
