En junio 13, 2013, en alrededor 10:00 al, members of the Oxnard Police Department’s Narcotics Unit served a search warrant at a warehouse in the 2200 block of Statham Boulevard in the City of Oxnard. The search warrant was the result of a month long investigation into a suspected indoor marijuana cultivation.
Durante el servicio de la orden de registro, detectives located a large concealed indoor marijuana grow operation. Numerous ultraviolet lights, water pumps, air filters, and growing materials were found along with over 1000 marijuana plants, y 20 pounds of dried marijuana estimated to be worth more than $3.5 millón. The hydroponic growing equipment was estimated to be worth $150,000.
Two persons were located at the warehouse who were directly involved in the cultivation of marijuana. Brandyn Cowgill was arrested on suspicion of cultivating marijuana, possession of marijuana for sales, and conspiracy. Julia Danilkevich was arrested on suspicion of cultivating marijuana and conspiracy. Both Cowgill and Danilkevich were booked into Ventura County Jail and held on $250,000.00 fianza.

This case would not have been possible if not for the several anonymous tips we received during the investigation. DETALLES:
En 6/29/13, en 1210 horas, the Oxnard Police and Fire Department responded to plane crash in the agricultural field located at Wooley Rd. and Victoria Ave. The plane was extinguished by the Oxnard Fire Department.

Officers located a small single engine plane that was destroyed and burned upon impact. There were two fatalities onboard the plane. No other persons were injured other than the passengers on the plane. There was also no property or structural damage other than the agricultural field.

The FAA and NTSB were notified and are responding to handle the investigation. There is no traffic issues related to the plane crash, OPD officers secured the crash site and are maintaining the crime scene until relieved by FAA/NTSB personnel.

En julio 26^ª, 2013, entre las horas de 6:00 P.M. y 12:00 A.m., officers from the Oxnard Police Department conducted two DUI/Driver’s license checkpoints.

The first checkpoint was conducted in the southbound lanes of Saviers Road just north of Laurel Street and the second checkpoint was conducted in the eastbound lanes of Channel Islands Blvd. just east of Peninsula Road.

Funcionarios seleccionados 913 motorists who passed through the checkpoints and conducted three DUI investigations on drivers who had been drinking alcohol and/or using drugs while driving. Of those investigations, one driver was arrested for driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and one driver was arrested for driving on a suspended driver’s license, being in possession of marijuana, y parafernalia de estupefacientes.

Citations were issued to six drivers for various Vehicle Code violations. Seven drivers were issued citations for driving without a valid driver’s license, three drivers were cited for driving with a suspended driver’s license, and four vehicles were towed from the checkpoints.

DETALLES: En 8/26/13 en aproximadamente 2220 horas, Oxnard policías respondieron a la 5200 block of Charles Street reference a carjacking. The officers spoke to the victim, un 21 year old Hispanic female and resident of Oxnard. The victim was not injured during the crime.

The victim told police that she was seated in her car waiting to give a relative a ride to the hospital when two Hispanic males approached her. One of the males, Sospechoso #1, brandished a knife at the victim and told her to exit her vehicle. After the victim exited her vehicle, Sospechoso #1, got into the driver seat and another Hispanic male, Sospechoso #2, entered the passenger seat. Both suspects fled the area in the victim’s vehicle.

Aproximadamente 2345 horas, the vehicle was located in the alley of the 3000 bloque del Sur G Street. The vehicle was set on fire. The fire was put out by the Oxnard Fire Department. No hubo heridos.

Investigators are looking into this case.

En 9/2/13 en alrededor 1600 horas, officers from the Oxnard Police Department responded to the area of the 1200 block of Stellar drive in reference to a possible suicidal subject. Officers located the subject, un 40 residente de Oxnard años de edad, and found he was in possession of a knife. The subject was also making statements indicating he wanted to harm himself. An armed standoff ensued.

The subject refused to comply with officers’ orders. Officers attempted to negotiate with the subject for approximately 2 and ½ hours in an attempt to gain his compliance. Members of the Oxnard Police Department’s crisis negotiators also responded to the scene as the dialogue continued. The standoff ended peacefully at about 1845 when the subject ultimately complied with officers, and was taken into police custody. He was transported to Ventura County Behavioral Health for assessment.

En 1904 horas, Oxnard police officers and members of the Ventura County Auto Theft Task Force conducted a joint operation to address stolen vehicle issues in Oxnard. During the operation investigators observed subjects attempting to steal a parked motor vehicle. En septiembre 23, 2013, en alrededor 1815 horas, officers and EMS personnel responded to a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in the 1200 Block of South “K” Street. A la llegada, officers learned that a black pick-up truck had collided with a 10 year-old pedestrian in the street. The truck also dragged the pedestrian’s bicycle in the street as the truck continued south. It was unknown if the pedestrian was riding the bicycle at the time of the collision.

The driver of the pickup fled the scene. The vehicle was later found abandoned in the 1400 Block of South “J” Street, and was impounded for evidence. El controlador, described as a Hispanic male adult, was not located.

The victim was transported to VCMC where he appeared to suffer a leg fracture. The injury was not life-threatening.

En octubre 29, 2013, en alrededor 6:56 P.M., officers from the Oxnard Police Department and EMS personnel responded to the 2100 block of North Ventura Road in reference to an injury traffic collision involving black Toyota Camry, a white Ford van and a pedestrian. Cuando llegaron los agentes, they found that the Toyota had struck the pedestrian and then collided with the Ford van.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the Toyota Camry, driven by Edgar Raymond Cruz, was traveling southbound on Ventura Road. The Ford van was parked along the west curb line of the 2100 block of North Ventura Road facing southbound. Just prior to the collision, Pedestrian Jose Antonio Renteria had stepped off the sidewalk and was standing in the roadway at the rear of the van. For an unknown reason, the Toyota veered to the right and collided into Pedestrian Renteria and the rear of the van.

Jose Antonio Renteria died at the scene as a result of the injuries sustained from the collision. Driver Cruz sustained minor injuries from the collision and was transported to a local hospital.

It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision.
