El lunes, Octubre 26, 2015, entre 1:00 p.m. y 5:00 p.m., the Oxnard Police Department Traffic Unit will be deploying officers throughout the city limits to conduct bicycle and pedestrian safety enforcement.

The Oxnard Police Department wants everyone to be aware of precautions that can be taken to reduce the number and severity of collisions involving pedestrians and bicyclists. Pedestrians are reminded to obey regulatory traffic signs and only travel in areas where it is permitted and safe to walk. Bicyclists should follow all traffic laws and wear an appropriate helmet at all times to minimize injuries in the event of a collision or fall.

Drivers are also reminded to share the road and watch out for pedestrians and bicyclists as they travel on our roadways. Extra caution should be used in areas of schools and crosswalks. California law requires drivers to maintain a distance of three feet when passing bicyclists. If a driver is unable to give a cyclist three feet, due to traffic or road conditions (including the weather and width of the highway), the driver must instead slow to a reasonable speed and pass when doing so would not endanger the bicyclist.

El martes, Diciembre 29, 2015, en alrededor 10:03 p.m., officers from the Oxnard Police Department and EMS personnel responded to the intersection of Saviers Road and Date Street in reference to an injury collision involving a single vehicle.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the Nissan was traveling southbound on Saviers Road approaching the intersection of Date Street. For an unknown reason, the Nissan lost control, veered off the roadway and collided with a large tree located at the south west corner of the intersection. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Un pasajero hembra, Angela Aguilera, was transported from the scene to the Ventura County Medical Center where she is listed in stable condition with moderate injuries.

It is unknown if alcohol and/or drugs are factors in the collision. La colisión es todavía bajo investigación.

(Oxnard, Ca.) - The Oxnard Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating Harry “Don” Donald Pitcher. Sr.. Pitcher was last seen in his vehicle in the parking lot of the DMV office located at 4030 Saviers Road in the City of Oxnard. He is described as a white male, 6 feet tall, weighing 180 pounds with grey hair and hazel eyes. He was last seen wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, a grey shirt and dark colored pants. Sr.. Pitcher suffers from dementia.
