En abril 25, 2013 Josue Puga was arrested for 1,705 cargos de vandalismo del graffiti, 25 of the counts resulted in damage in excess of $400 and were charged as felonies. The total amount of damage caused by Puga is approximately $300,000.

Investigators gathered information during a several month long investigation that led to the identification and arrest of Puga for the graffiti vandalism.

Each year the City of Oxnard spends hundreds of thousands of dollars cleaning up graffiti vandalism on both private and public property throughout the city. The City of Oxnard takes the crime of graffiti vandalism seriously and will continue to investigate the crimes, and arrest the offenders.

En mayo 1, 2013, en alrededor 1400 horas, officers responded to a call of a male subject attempting to set his home on fire in the 2700 Block of Upton Sinclair Drive. While en-route, officers received an update that the subject was now possibly in possession of a knife and threatening to hurt himself.

When officers arrived on scene they made contact with the subject who was in possession of two knives. Equipo de Intervención de Crisis (CIT) officers attempted to talk the subject into surrendering. The subject refused to surrender and challenged the officers to shoot him. The subject went back inside his home and threatened that if officers followed him into his home he would blow the house up.

Moments later the subject came back out of the home and continued to challenge officers to shoot him. Officers deployed an Electronic Control Device, commonly referred to as a “Taser,” and the subject was taken into custody without further incident.

The subject was treated at a local hospital. No charges were filed.

En 0815 horas, officers responded to a residence in the 2100 Bloque de S. Victoria Avenue in Oxnard regarding a stabbing that had just occurred.

Los oficiales localizaron un 67 year old male who had been stabbed by his roommate. The victim received medical treatment at the scene for a stab wound to his chest and was transported to VCMC. His wound does not appear to be life-threatening.

Los oficiales contactaron al sospechoso., 72 year-old Michel Myer. Myer was cooperative with police and was ultimately arrested for an assault with a deadly weapon.

En 6-16-13, en 1158 horas, officers were dispatched to a residence in the 4500 Block of Syracuse Drive re: shots fired. Officers arrived and found a male shooting victim. That victim had been shot numerous times and was transported to the Ventura County Medical Center for treatment. He is listed in stable condition and is expected to survive.

While at the scene, officers learned another male subject was still on scene and that subject was likely injured. It was not certain if this subject was a suspect. Officers established a perimeter and had a tactical team respond. Officers conducted a search and located a deceased male subject.

Investigators are on scene working to determine what occurred.

En 8/1/2013, en aproximadamente 0031 horas, officers responded to a call for service of a black Nissan truck with a partial plate of “11”occupied by Ricardo Ramirez possibly in possession of a firearm. Officers arrived on scene and began checking the area. Dispatch advised a records check revealed Ramirez had a felony warrant and was considered armed and dangerous.

Officers observed a black Toyota Tacoma traveling westbound on Pleasant Valley Road crossing the intersection with Terrace Avenue. Officers followed the vehicle as it was traveling approximately 40 miles per hour on a residential roadway. A vehicle pursuit ensued after the Toyota failed to yield. Durante la persecución, Ramirez fled from the vehicle and forced entry into an occupied residence. Ramirez was eventually taken into custody without further incident.

The pursuit terminated when the vehicle collided into a stop sign at the intersection of Wooley Road and Telstar Drive. The driver Jose Ochoa was taken into custody and a search of the vehicle revealed a stolen firearm. The pursuit ended after about 18 minutes and covered approximately 14.9 millas.

En 2045 horas, officers responded to a business in the 200 Block of West 5^ª Calle re: a robbery. Officers learned a male, 25 año, 5-8, with a black ski mask over his face, and wearing a white shirt and black pants, attempted to take an employee’s keys to the business just as she was closing. When the victim resisted, this suspect then stabbed the victim in one hand causing minor injury.

The suspect entered a waiting vehicle, a white Honda Accord with tinted windows driven by a male subject. The suspect vehicle was last seen westbound on 5^ª Calle.

DETALLES: En 8/27/13 en aproximadamente 1055 horas, neighbors reported seeing suspicious subjects entering into the yard of a residence in the 1700 block of Elsinore Ave in Oxnard. Officers from the Oxnard Police Department arrived and observed the juveniles running from the residence. Three juveniles were located in the area and found to be in possession of property stolen from the victim’s home. All three juveniles were arrested for burglary.

En 0205 horas, officers observed a vehicle at a high rate of speed eastbound on near Channel Islands Boulevard and Harbor Boulevard. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle as it sped eastbound on Channel Islands Boulevard. The vehicle failed to yield and officers went in pursuit.

The vehicle turned northbound on Patterson Road at Channel Islands Boulevard where it struck a curb. The vehicle continued eventually crashing at Hemlock Street and McLoughlin Avenue.

Two subjects, Andrew Marquez, 6-18-91, (evadir delito grave) and Leeanna Marin, 3-24-93, (misdemeanor warrant) were taken into custody without incident. Both sustained minor injuries.

Joel Soto accused of child abuse

(OXNARD, California), Joel Soto, 24 of Oxnard has been arrested by Oxnard Police detectives with the Family Protection Unit and charged with felony physical child abuse.

The Oxnard Police Department received information that an 8 month old baby girl had been hurt by her father. She suffered serious injuries to her head, face and leg. Detectives determined that Soto caused the baby’s injuries. The baby was treated at St. John’s Hospital.

Soto is currently being held at Ventura County Jail. Su fianza fue fijada en $20,000.
