The Independence Day Weekend Anti-DUI crackdown is reporting DUI arrests from local routine traffic enforcement and special Avoid the 14 Despliegues de DUI en el Condado de Ventura. DUI arrest data collection will continue through midnight Sunday July 6^ª. Law Enforcement officials are continuing DUI efforts throughout the county. For Saturday July 5th, extra DUI saturation patrols will be deployed in the cities of Oxnard, Simi Valley, Moorpark, and Thousand Oaks.

A multi-agency DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoint was deployed in the City of Oxnard on July 3^rd entre 6:00 p.m. y la medianoche. It was held in the southbound lanes of Rose Avenue just south of Gonzales Road. During the six hour operation, 1,354 vehicles passed through the checkpoint and 1,081 of those drivers were screened for impairment and for valid driver’s licenses. Sobriety exercises were administered to four drivers of which two were arrested, one for alcohol intoxication and the other for drug impairment. Two drivers were cited for driving with a suspended license and 15 were cited for being unlicensed. Un adicional 17 citations were issued to drivers for other various violations. En 7-10-14, en 2016 horas, an officer stopped Ivan Moreno, 21 año, Residente de Oxnard, for a traffic violation as Moreno rode his bicycle on First Street near Roosevelt Avenue. Once stopped Moreno’s hand movements suggested he may have been concealing a weapon. The officer conducted a pat down and located a loaded handgun. Moreno was arrested and charged with a number of weapon-related offenses including possessing a concealed loaded firearm.

In an effort to address the recent increase in firearms-related crimes, the Oxnard Police Department launched the Operation Safer and Stronger Initiative, así como el equipo de ataque de armas de fuego (RÁPIDO) led by the Violent Crime Unit, to proactively remove firearms from prohibited persons within the city. En 7-18-14, en 2340 horas, officers were in the parking lot of St. John’s Regional Medical Center where they contacted three subjects attempting to conceal themselves in a green pickup truck. The subjects initially were non-compliant but ultimately came out of the truck. A search of the truck produced two handguns and ammunition. Omar Rodriguez, 8-1-95, was charged with carrying a concealed handgun in a motor vehicle.

One of the passengers was a 15-year old juvenile who had been reported missing. That subject was returned home. The other passenger was a 19-year old male who was questioned and released.

Officers learned these subjects had taken a 14-year old male friend to St. John’s Regional Medical Center ER to be treated for a single gunshot wound. This victim’s wounds were not life-threatening. Because of conflicting statements from all four subjects it is not clear what occurred and where the incident took place. Una investigación continúa.

DETALLES:
(OXNARD, California) – On August 9, 2014 en 0345 horas, los oficiales respondieron a la 700 Block of Hermosa Way reference a subject yelling in the street. Officers made contact with a witness who told police that a man was struck by a car. The witness further stated that the car fled the scene after striking the man and knocking him to the ground. The victim was later identified as, Adam Rodriguez. Rodriguez was contacted at his home in Ventura by Oxnard Police. Rodriguez told police that his x-girlfriend, Jeannette Robles, hit him with her car while he was walking on Hermosa Way. Rodriguez said he and Robles were involved in verbal dispute prior to him being struck by the car.

Sr.. Rodriguez sustained moderate injuries from being struck by the car. Jeannette Robles was arrested at her residence on Blanca Place in Oxnard a short time after the incident. Jeannette Robles is currently in custody with bail set at $500,000.

En 9/27/14, officers were dispatched to the area of Fifth Street near Rose Ave. reference a carjacking. Officers arrived and contacted the victim who advised he was lured to the location by a female suspect on Facebook. Once he arrived, two female suspects and two male suspects forced him out of his vehicle at knife point. The suspects fled in the victim’s vehicle.

En 10-2-14, en 1817 horas, officers responded to a call of a fight in the 2400 Block of Alvarado Street. Officers found a 19-year old male had been assaulted and was bleeding about the face. The victim was transported to the Ventura County Medical Center with serious injuries.

Witnesses described the suspect as a 19 to 22-year old male. The suspect fled in a white Chevy Impala.

En octubre 12, 2014 en aproximadamente 3:04 PM officers from the Oxnard Police Department attempted to stop a subject, identified as Victor De Arcos, on a bicycle that was observed committing a traffic violation. The subject fled from officers and was arrested after a short foot pursuit.

During a search of the De Arcos, a loaded handgun was found on his person along with narcotics and narcotic paraphernalia.

En agosto 30^ª, 2014, agentes del Departamento de Policía de Oxnard respondieron a la 700 block of Forest Park Blvd in the City of Oxnard in reference to the possible sexual exploitation of a minor by an adult. An Oxnard resident reported that while reviewing her child’s mobile device, she discovered that her 12-year-old daughter had been involved in an online sexual conversation with a 23-year-old male adult.

After an extensive two-month investigation, investigators from the Oxnard Police Department’s Family Protection Unit arrested 23-year-old Oscar Mora of Carpinteria (see photo) for numerous charges including traveling for the purposes of engaging a minor for sex, conspiracy to commit a crime, and child luring. He is currently in custody at the Ventura County Jail with bail set at $250,000.

Investigators have reason to believe that there may be other victims that have been contacted by Mora. Anyone with additional information should contact Detective Terrance Dobrosky at (805) 385-7609.

DETALLES:

En 11-7-14 en 0030 horas, officers responded to St. John’s Regional Medical Center re: a shooting victim driving to the hospital. Within moments the 36-year old Oxnard resident arrived.

The victim told officers he was with his girlfriend parked at a convenience market located in the 2000 Bloque de East Pleasant Valley Road. A green or dark pickup, possibly with an extra cab, parked nearby. The victim got out of his vehicle and one subject exited the pickup. An argument ensued. A second subject got out and fired a handgun striking the victim. The victim got back into his car and his girlfriend drove him to Saint John’s Regional Medical Center. The suspects are described as two males, 25 a 30 año. The victim was later transported to the Ventura County Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition.

ACTUALIZACIÓN

Investigators from the Violent Crimes Unit were able to identify the two suspects in this shooting as 22-year-old Oxnard resident, Andrew Juarez Cortez and 21-year-old Oxnard resident Cesar Sanchez. En 11-13-14 members of the Oxnard Police Department SWAT team served search warrants at both of the suspects’ homes. Sanchez was arrested at his home without incident and charged with being an accessory to a crime. Cortez was not located.

En 11-21-14, Cortez arrived at the Oxnard Police Department and turned himself in. He was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and booked into Ventura County Jail.
