DETALLES:

En 5-31-15, en 0739 horas, an Oxnard Police officer saw a stolen vehicle being driven southbound on Rose Avenue near Camino Del Sol. When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle the vehicle failed to yield. The officer went in a short pursuit of the vehicle.

The pursuit was terminated after approximately two minutes. The driver of the stolen vehicle continued and lost control of the vehicle at 2^nd Street and Hayes Avenue where it crashed into a wall. The suspect fled on foot and was tackled by officers.

Gilberto Aldana, 22-residente de Oxnard años de edad, sustained minor injuries and was treated at local hospital prior to being booked into the Ventura County Main Jail. Aldana was charged with stolen vehicle (delito) and evading (delito). Aldana is currently on probation for stolen vehicle.

DETALLES: The Oxnard Police Department will be participating in the annual Southern California Law Enforcement Torch “Flame of Hope” Run in support of Ventura County Special Olympics. Oxnard Police along with community members will be gathering at the U.S. 101 footbridge at Ventura Road and Wagon Wheel Road, where Ventura PD will hand the torch for its run through Oxnard.

Runners will proceed southbound on Ventura Road, go east on Vineyard Ave, south on H Street, to Gonzalez Road, down south on C street. Every year, the group passes along the Oxnard Police Department where they are rallied in front of the police station. Runners then proceed through the City of Oxnard where they hand off the torch to Port Hueneme Police at Ventura Road and Channel Islands Blvd.

Oxnard Police has been supporting this annual event for over 20 año. For one of our officers, Officer Ron Zavala this will be his last year coordinating this event since he will be retiring. He has helped coordinate it for the past 10 año. What makes this event more special for many at our agency is that Officer Zavala has pushed his own daughter in her wheelchair at the front to lead the group year after year on this run – as she carries the torch. We encourage members of the public to come out and support the participants as the Flame of Hope makes its way through Oxnard.

Aside from a run this is also a fundraiser, with all proceeds going to support Special Olympics Ventura County athletes. The public is welcome to join law enforcement on this run, with a $25 donation which includes an official Law Enforcement Torch Run t-shirt.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run is an international fundraising and public awareness campaign for the Special Olympics. For over twenty years, Oxnard Police and Ventura County law enforcement agencies have been raising tens of thousands of dollars annually to benefit Special Olympics of Ventura County. These monies help Ventura County Special Olympics to offer free, year round, sports training and competition to over 700 individuals with intellectual disabilities ages eight years and up, who participate in seventeen sports at forty-five training sites throughout Ventura County.

DETALLES: El viernes, Julio 17, 2015, la Flame of Hope, the official torch for the Special Olympics World Games Los Angeles 2015, will be carried through the City of Oxnard, with a ceremony to be held in front of City Hall, 305 West 3^rd Calle, desde 8:30-9:30 AM.

Guest speakers, music, and dancers, will all be a part of the ceremony. Oxnard Mayor Tim Flynn, and special guests, will welcome the law enforcement officers who serve as the Guardians of the Flame of Hope and the Special Olympic athletes as they participate in the Law Enforcement Torch Run Final Leg. Law Enforcement officers and Special Olympic athletes are selected by their respective Special Olympics programs to be one of the 126 Final Leg Team members based on their dedication and commitment to the Special Olympics movement.

Community members are encouraged to join the celebration alongside law enforcement to express support for these athletes. Throughout the journey of the Final Leg, law enforcement officers from around the world will be spreading the message of acceptance and inclusion for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

La Flame of Hope will complete its journey on July 25 when the Law Enforcement Torch Run Final Leg team carries it into the Opening Ceremony of the 2015 World Games and ignites the cauldron at the historic Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum,site of the 1932 y 1984 Olympics.

DETALLES:
El viernes, Julio 17, 2015, en alrededor 3:45 p.m., officers from the Oxnard Police Department and EMS personnel responded to the intersection of Saviers Road and Wolff Street in reference to an injury traffic collision involving two vehicles, one being a small motorcycle.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the motorcycle, driven by Andres Ceja and with a female passenger, was traveling northbound on Saviers Road. The Chevrolet truck was traveling southbound on Saviers Road approaching the intersection of Wolff Street. For an unknown reason, the motorcycle turned left at Wolff Street and into the direct path of the truck causing a broadside collision. The impact caused Driver Ceja and his female passenger to be ejected from the motorcycle. Both of them were transported from the scene to the Ventura County Medical Center with critical injuries. The female was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Driver Ceja is currently listed in stable condition. Driver Trevino was uninjured.

Driver Ceja and his female passenger were not wearing motorcycle helmets at the time of the collision.

It is unknown if alcohol and/or drugs are factors in the collision. La colisión es todavía bajo investigación.

En 08/13/15 en 0448 horas, Agentes de la policía de Oxnard fueron enviados a la 1300 block of Edgewood Way reference a shooting victim. Upon arrival they contacted the victim, un 24 residente de Oxnard años de edad, in a courtyard. Reyes was transported to the Ventura County Medical Center and is listed in stable condition. His injuries are not life threatening and the motive for the shooting is still under investigation.

Investigators from the Oxnard Police Department’s Violent Crime Unit are investigating the shooting. The motive for the shooting is unknown.

En septiembre 5, 2015 en aproximadamente 1900 horas, Officers from the Oxnard Police Department Special Enforcement Unit were conducting gang enforcement in the downtown area of the city. SEU officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Sixth St and “B” St. Immediately upon the vehicle stopping a subject who had been hiding in the rear seat attempted to flee the area. He was detained a short distance away and identified as Albert Salazar. Salazar is a documented gang member and had several outstanding warrants for his arrest. During a search of the vehicle a loaded semi-automatic handgun was located.

Salazar was arrested for several firearm related charges, violation of the gang injunction and his outstanding warrants.

The driver of the vehicle Mariah Arroyo was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance. A third adult female was released.

En septiembre 20, 2015, officers from the Oxnard Police Department Special Enforcement Unit attempted to stop a 1987 Dodge Lancer in the area of ‘G’ St. and Seventh St. for a traffic violation. El controlador, Ramon Alcazar, refused to stop for the officers and led officers on a pursuit throughout the city. Durante la persecución, Alcazar ran several stop signs and reached speeds in excess of 50mph in a residential area. Durante la persecución, Alcazar stopped the vehicle he was driving unexpectedly and put his car into reverse intentionally ramming the officers’ vehicles. Fortunately neither the suspect nor the officers involved in the pursuit were injured. Alcazar continued fleeing and at one point turned the lights of his vehicle off. The officers briefly lost sight of the vehicle but located it in an alley in the 2000 block of South ‘K’ St. Alcazar fled from the vehicle and ran through several backyards. Alcazar was eventually located hiding in a garage in a nearby residence and was taken into custody for several violations.

El domingo, Noviembre 8, 2015, en alrededor 5:42 p.m., officers from the Oxnard Police Department and EMS personnel responded to the intersection of First Street and Bonita Avenue in reference to an injury collision between a vehicle and bicyclist.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the bicyclist, an unidentified male, was traveling northbound on Bonita Avenue at First Street. The Nissan, driven by Yeny Beltran, was traveling eastbound on First Street approaching Bonita Avenue. For an unknown reason, the bicyclist entered the roadway in the direct path of the Nissan where he was struck. el ciclista, who was not wearing a bicycle helmet at the time of the collision, suffered significant head injuries and was transported from the scene to the Ventura County Medical Center where he is currently listed in serious condition.

Driver Beltran and her female passenger were not injured.

It is unknown if alcohol and/or drugs are factors in the collision.

El martes, Diciembre 29, 2015, en alrededor 2239 horas, officers from the Oxnard Police Department responded to the area of the 4600 block of Terrace Avenue regarding a shooting that had just occurred. When officers arrived they located two shooting victims, both 22-year-old Oxnard residents.

Both victims suffered non-life threatening gunshot wounds and were transported to the Ventura County Medical Center. Both victims were in stable condition.

Investigators are working to determine a motive for the shooting.
