(OXNARD, California) – On Monday March 11, 2013, en alrededor 10:13 a.m., officers from the Oxnard Police Department stopped Daniel Ruiz for a traffic violation. Ruiz was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance. When arriving at the police station, Ruiz told officers that he was not feeling well. As a precaution, officers contacted Gold Coast Ambulance who responded. Ruiz told emergency personnel that he had swallowed some methamphetamine. Ruiz was transported to St. John’s Hospital in Oxnard where he was admitted.

En 4-28-13, en 0221 horas, a motorist reported seeing two subjects burglarizing a business in the 200 Block of Colonia Road. Officers responded and found broken glass in front of a mini-market. Officers saw one subject inside the business.

This suspect initially hid and refused to come out. Pepper balls (PAVA powder) were inserted into the business and had nearly immediate effect. El sospechoso, later identified as Jose Flores Rodriguez, 41 año, Residente de Oxnard, surrendered to officers without further incident.

Rodriguez was charged with 459 PC. The second subject initially observed by the witness was not located.

The Oxnard Police Department would like to notify residents that the community is experiencing a recent increase in property crimes throughout the city. The Windsor North and Sierra Linda neighborhoods on the north end of Oxnard have had a notable increase in activity, such as auto burglaries, residential burglaries, and stolen vehicles.

We ask that you assist by taking a proactive approach to deter future criminal activity. We remind you not to leave any valuable possessions in your vehicles. Make sure to lock your vehicles and remove the keys. Similarly, be certain to secure windows and doors to your homes. We can all take small steps to avoid becoming a victim.

Help keep our homes and neighborhoods in Oxnard crime-free and safe. We remind residents to be extra aware and vigilant. NEWS UPDATE – Investigators with the Oxnard Police Department, with the public’s help, have found missing 13-year-old Samantha Torres. She was found earlier this evening when a person reported seeing her walking near the CostCo store in Oxnard. Samantha, an eighth grade student at Rio Del Valle Middle School in Oxnard had been reported missing for more than a week. The search for her had been widespread throughout the area with photos and flyers being posted in area shops and on social media sites. The girl was located after a lengthy police investigation and she is now reunited with her family. The Oxnard Police Department and the girl’s family thanks the public in helping to find her.

(OXNARD, California) – Oxnard police investigators are searching for a 13-year-old girl reported missing earlier this week. The teen, who has brown eyes, long reddish brown hair and is 5 pies 7 pulgadas de alto, was last seen leaving a relative’s apartment at the 2400 block of Alvarado St. en Oxnard.

En 5/25/13, en aproximadamente 11:30AM, a group of about 250 people marched from the area of Wal-Mart on Rose Avenue to the area of the Monsanto Corporation in the 2700 Block of Camino Del Sol. Once the group arrived at Monsanto, people from the group began to damage the property of Monsanto. The group was given orders to leave the property, and they complied with the order. The group was monitored by officers from the Oxnard Police Department until they ultimately dispersed. No se hicieron arrestos.

A similar protest at Monsanto took place back in September of 2012; the protest in 2012 was related to the “Occupy Monsanto” movement. It is unknown if today’s protest was related.

DETALLES: En agosto 31, 2013, en alrededor 10:29 P.M., officers from the Oxnard Police Department and EMS personnel responded to a collision involving two vehicles near the intersection of Rose Avenue and Cesar Chavez Drive. A la llegada, officers found that the two vehicles involved were a white Ford Expedition, driven by Joel Tapia, un 25 Residente de Oxnard de un año, and a silver 2004 BMW 325ci, driven by Leonardo Medina, un 23 residente de Oxnard años de edad,.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the Ford Expedition was traveling northbound on Rose Avenue and the BMW 325ci was traveling southbound on Rose Avenue. For an unknown reason, the Ford was traveling at a high rate of speed and collided with the center median of Rose Avenue just north of Cesar Chavez Drive. The Ford lost control and continued traveling over the median where it collided with several trees. During the collision, Driver Tapia was ejected from the Ford Expedition and landed in the roadway near his vehicle.

When the Ford collided with the median, its left front wheel became dislodged and flew into the path of the northbound BMW where it struck its front end causing extensive damage. Driver Medina was uninjured during the collision.

Driver Tapia sustained serious injuries as result of the collision and was transported to a local hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. Actualmente se encuentra en estado crítico..

When officers arrived they located a male subject who had been stabbed. Despite emergency responders’ efforts to save the subject, he died as a result of his injuries.

DETALLES: The Oxnard Police Department would like to notify residents of two home burglaries in the last two days in the 2400 block of Alvarado Street, and remind city residents to ensure their safety by taking precaution and locking doors and securing windows in the evening hours and when not at home.

We are following leads of a single-male suspect, who forced-entry through the front door while residents were home.

DETALLES: En 10/30/13 en 0810 horas, Investigators from the Violent Crimes Unit arrested 19 year old Oxnard resident Jovanny Becerra on 70 cargos de vandalismo del graffiti. Investigators obtained information the previous week that linked Becerra to his tagged moniker. The graffiti vandalism committed by Becerra cost the City of Oxnard an estimated $10,000.00 para limpiar.

En 11/3/13 en aproximadamente 1800 horas, Agentes de la policía de Oxnard fueron enviados a la 1200 block of Colonia Road reference a shooting victim. La víctima, Jesus Muniz, was shot multiple times in the chest. Muniz was transported to the Ventura County Medical Center by ambulance and is listed in critical condition.
