Winter Holiday Mobilization Schedule of Operations

Ventura County December Enforcement Schedule

Oxnard, California – Ventura County Avoid the 14 is announcing its upcoming enforcement operations for the Winter Holiday DUI Campaign. The following schedule of operations, dates, and locations are provided for broadcast.

In addition to the above operations, officers throughout Ventura County will be conducting several DUI saturation patrols on various nights during the campaign which ends on January 1, 2014.
Statistical data on the number of DUI arrests and DUI fatal crashes will be released from the previous day’s activities throughout the holiday weekend.

DETALLES:
En 2239 horas, officers responded to Texaco Gas located at 3650 Saviers Road after receiving a call of a robbery to the business. Officers learned that a male subject, aproximadamente 5-10 a 5-10, 170 to180 pounds, wearing a grey ski mask, black shirt with red and yellow logo and green pants, robbed the business.

An employee said that the suspect walked into the business and simulated a handgun. He demanded money and fled with an undisclosed amount of property. No one was injured during the incident.

The suspect was last running northbound from the area.

En 03/7/14 en aproximadamente 0917 horas, officers from the Oxnard Police Department responded to Starbucks, 241 West Fifth Street, reference a robbery that just occurred. The lone suspect was described as an H/M wearing a khaki color sweater, white sunglasses, and a blue backpack. El sospechoso entró en el negocio, implied a knife, and demanded money from the clerk. The suspect left the store with an undisclosed amount of money.

Minutos después, a person matching the suspect description was contacted in the east alley of the 400 block of South Fourth Street. During the investigation a witness positively identified the suspect. The suspect was identified as Arthur Lopez, Residente de Oxnard. Lopez was arrested for robbery, robo con fractura, and parole violation.

DETALLES:

En 04/28/2014 en aproximadamente 2005 horas, Oxnard policías respondieron a la 900 Block of Hill Street in Oxnard reference several gun shots heard in the area. Un corto tiempo después, calls of a shooting victim in the area were also received.

Officers arrived and located the victim, who had sustained at least one gunshot wound. He was transported to VCMC and underwent surgery. He is currently in critical condition. Officers were unable to learn of any information regarding suspects.

DETALLES: En enero 26, 2014 en aproximadamente 5:31PM, the Oxnard Police Department’s Emergency Communications Center received a call of a fight in the 100 cuadra de South C Street. Oxnard police officers and emergency medical personnel were dispatched. Cuando llegaron los agentes, they located the unconscious victim, identified as Alexander Ysidro Flores Ramirez. Ramirez was immediately transported to the Ventura County Medical Center for treatment. Ramirez was stabilized, but became unconscious.

En marzo de 5, 2014 Ramirez’s condition deteriorated and he passed away. En marzo de 7^ª 2014, an autopsy was conducted by the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office. The medical examiner determined that Ramirez’s death was a homicide.

Durante el curso de la investigación, detectives from the Oxnard Police Department received several calls from the public and located additional witnesses. Evidence was collected and statements were obtained, resulting in the identification of Forest Hollins being an involved party. Detectives contacted Forrest Hollins and he provided a voluntary statement.

After the evidence was analyzed and all statements were reviewed, investigators determined that Alexander Ramirez approached Forrest Hollins and punched him. Forrest Hollins defended himself by punching Alexander Ramirez back one time with his fist. Ramirez fell back and struck his head, eventually losing consciousness. Desafortunadamente, Ramirez was unable to recover from his injury.

The case was presented to the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office for their independent review. After careful consideration of all available facts, both agencies have come to the same conclusion. Based on the known facts of the case, the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office determined that no charges will be filed against Forrest Hollins for this incident.

DETALLES:
En 5/2/14 en aproximadamente 1530 horas, Oxnard Police detectives and members of the Oxnard Police Department’s Special Enforcement Unit (SU) arrested a Post Release Offender (PRO) who was wanted for an outstanding felony warrant.

Jovan Isiah Mathews was first spotted by detectives assigned to the Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) en el 2700 block of Sharon Drive, in the City of Port Hueneme. Mathews was observed getting into a sedan that was about to leave the area when SEU officers were called to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle. Mathews was found crouched down attempting to hide in the backseat of the vehicle. After he was handcuffed, SEU officers searched Mathews and found he was in possession of two loaded and concealed handguns.

Mathews was arrested for his outstanding felony warrant, but also faces additional charges including possession of concealed firearms, felon in possession firearms and additional weapons charges.

El conductor del vehículo, 34 year old Corrina Tamayo of Oxnard, was arrested for violation of her probation terms.

En 5/2/14 en aproximadamente 1420 horas, Oxnard police officers conducted a traffic stop on a blue Dodge Durango near the intersection of Patterson Road and Hemlock Street. The driver of the vehicle was identified as 22 year old Mykal Anthony Rodriguez. Durante la parada de tráfico, officers located a loaded sawed off shotgun on the passenger seat and drug paraphernalia. Rodriguez was arrested for possession of a concealed firearm, possession of a loaded firearm and possession of a short barreled shotgun.

DETALLES:
En 1635 horas, officers from the Oxnard Police Department were provided information from witnesses of a vehicle occupied by possible gang members brandishing a handgun. Officers searched the area and located the occupied vehicle. An enforcement stop of the vehicle was attempted and two subjects fled the scene.

Officers pursued and contacted a 16 year old juvenile who was found to be in possession of a handgun. He was arrested without incident and arrested for the related charges.
