En 5-7-14, en aproximadamente 0100 horas, officers responded to a family argument involving a firearm in the 100 block of Cordova Street.
Witnesses told officers that Jorge Ortiz, 25-residente de Oxnard años de edad, pulled a gun and pointed it at his sister, Sandra Ortiz. He then fired a round into the ceiling and fled. Responding officers saw Ortiz run into a neighbor’s yard and onto the roof of that residence.
Ortiz subsequently fled into a residence in the 100 block of Alpine Street. The family in that home was in fear and notified officers. This family was evacuated from the home. Ortiz remained inside the bathroom of that residence as officers ordered him out over a police car loudspeaker. After about fifteen minutes, Ortiz walked out of the home and surrendered to the officers.
Ortiz was arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm, blandiendo un arma de fuego, and outstanding felony warrants.
