Officers found an 18-year old male Oxnard resident had sustained several gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he is listed in serious, pero estable.

DETALLES:En 8/9/15 en aproximadamente 1900 horas, Oxnard policías respondieron a la 300 block of North G Street reference a person hit by a vehicle. Cuando llegaron los oficiales localizaron a la víctima, 18 year old Bryan Ramirez, laying in the street with significant injuries. Witnesses reported to the police that a grey sedan was seen leaving the area directly after Ramirez was found in the roadway. Ramirez was transported by ambulance to the Ventura County Medical Center in grave condition. Ramirez is currently in the Intensive Care Unit.

En 8/28/15, en aproximadamente 8:50PM, officers were patrolling the 3100 block of Mendocino, located in the Diamond Bar neighborhood. Officers located two subjects loitering in front of a residence known for recent and violent gang activity. As the officers attempted to make contact with the subjects, the officers noticed one of the subjects was making furtive movements toward his waistband. The subject ran from the officers, but was apprehended a short distance away. Officers located a short barreled shotgun that was discarded by the suspect. Montiel is a documented member of an Oxnard street gang, currently on probation for robbery, and prohibited from possessing firearms. Montiel was arrested and charged with several firearms violations.

En 8/29/15 en aproximadamente 1830 horas, officers from the Oxnard Police Department were searching the area of Gonzales Rd and Ventura Rd reference a stolen vehcile that had been pursued into the City of Oxnard by the Ventura Police Department. The stolen vehicle was located in the area of Gonzales Rd and Patterson Rd. The vehcile failed to yield to the police unit and a second pursuit was initiated by the Oxnard Police Derpartment, which covered approximately 5 miles in the south end of the City. A Stop Stick was deployed in the area of Channel Islands Blvd and Ventura Rd which deflated two tires of the vehicle. The driver continued to flee from officers until he stopped his vehicle on Las Tunas at Yucca St where he was taken into custody without further incident. He was transported by Ventura Police for further processing and booking.

En 08/05/15, officers from the Oxnard Police Department responded to a call regarding the possible online enticement and exploitation of a 15-year-old female child. Detectives from the Oxnard Police Department’s Family Protection Unit (FPU) initiated an investigation into the crimes. After several weeks of investigating the allegations, four adult male suspects were identified as having repeated communications of a sexual nature with the child. The suspects were identified as, Shawn Light of Camarillo, Daniel Loza of Oxnard, Cody Mewbourne of Thousand Oaks and Constantine Mantis of Moorpark. Shawn Light, Daniel Loza and Cody Mewbourne had repeatedly communicated with the child for the purposes of arranging to meet her for sexual acts. All three suspects should have reasonably known the child was under the age of 18.

En 08/18/15 detectives from the Oxnard Police Department’s Family Protection Unit (FPU) and Oxnard Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) arrested Shawn Light and Daniel Loza when they arrived at a public location in the City of Oxnard for the purposes of committing sexual acts on a child. Cody Mewbourne made arrangements to meet with the child for the purposes of sexual acts but didn’t show up at the planned location. Mewbourne was arrested on 9/5/15 for child annoying, arranging to meet a child for sexual acts and sending harmful matter to a child. Constantine Mantis has an outstanding warrant for child annoying, and sending harmful matter to a child. The District Attorney’s Office has filed criminal charges against all subjects listed.

DETALLES: En 9-25-15, en 0029 horas, los oficiales respondieron a la 1300 Block of Friedrich Lane re: a subject yelling and acting in a bizarre manner. Officers contacted Uriel Arellano Morales, a 20-year old Oxnard resident. Officers immediately noted that when Morales spoke he was not making any sense. Morales said repeatedly that he wanted to go to a motel.

While waiting for a friend to come and take Morales to a hotel, Morales suddenly, and unexplainably, charged and tackled one of the two officers on scene. The other officer came to the aid of the first officer and both were eventually able to take Morales into custody.

Morales was treated at a local hospital suffering minor injuries before being booked into the Ventura County Main Jail for 69 PC (obstructing or resisting officers in the performance of their duties-felony) y 243(b) PC (battery on a police officer-felony).

The two Oxnard Police officers were also treated at a local hospital and treated for moderate injuries.

En noviembre 24, 2015, en alrededor 12:24 a.m., officers from the Oxnard Police Department and EMS personnel responded to the intersection of San Benito Street and Trinity Place in reference to a single vehicle injury collision involving a motorcycle. Cuando ellos llegaron, the driver of the motorcycle, Claudia Sanchez, was found unconscious and unresponsive. Officers and medical personnel performed CPR but Sanchez succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary investigation indicates that Sanchez was riding the motorcycle southbound on Trinity Place approaching the T-shaped intersection of San Benito Street at a high rate of speed. For an unknown reason, she traveled through the intersection and collided with the curb on the south side of San Benito Street. Sánchez, who was not wearing a motorcycle helmet, was ejected from the motorcycle and collided with the landscaped embankment and rear wall of the strip mall located in the 2100 block of East Channel Islands Boulevard (parallel with San Benito Street).

Although speed contributed to the cause of the collision, it is unknown if alcohol and/or drugs were factors in the crash. La colisión es todavía bajo investigación.

El lunes, Enero 25, 2016, entre 7:00 a.m. y 11 a.m., the Oxnard Police Department will be deploying officers throughout the city limits to conduct bicycle and pedestrian safety enforcement.

The Oxnard Police Department wants to make everyone aware of precautions that can be taken to reduce the number and severity of collisions involving pedestrians and bicyclists. Pedestrians are reminded to obey regulatory traffic signs and only travel in areas where it is permitted and safe to walk. Bicyclists should follow all traffic laws and wear an appropriate helmet at all times to minimize injuries in the case of a collision or fall.

Drivers are also reminded to share the road and watch out for pedestrians and bicyclists as they travel on our roadways. Extra caution should be used near schools and crosswalks. California law requires drivers to maintain a distance of three feet when passing bicyclists. If a driver is unable to give a bicyclist three feet, due to traffic or road conditions (including the weather and width of the highway), the driver must slow to a reasonable speed and pass when it would not endanger the bicyclist.

En febrero 11, 2016 en aproximadamente 5:28 A.m., Oficiales de la Policía de Oxnard respondieron a la 4700 block of Reeder Avenue, reference a family dispute. Cuando llegaron los agentes, they learned that the suspect had broken into the residence and had threatened a family member with a knife. Suspect Meza fled the scene and was observed by officers on the roof top. Suspect Meza began to jump from roof to roof in attempt to flee from officers. Suspect Meza broke several windows of nearby houses while attempting to flee from officers.

Officers followed the suspect until he was taken into custody on the rooftop of a residence.
