(OXNARD, California)– On April 2, 2013, en aproximadamente 12:30 p.m., 19 year old Oxnard resident Jorge Cervantes was arrested for his role in the gang-motivated murder of Alfredo Vargas. Cervantes was arrested in the area of Pleasant Valley Road and Perkins Road in Oxnard after officers observed him as a passenger in a vehicle. Cervantes was transported to the Ventura County Jail where he will be awaiting court proceedings along with the other two suspects that were arrested last week.

There are additional outstanding suspects in the Alfredo Vargas homicide and other investigations are being actively worked. These investigations include the 2006 murder of Oscar Gonzales, la 2009 murder of Ramiro Huerta, y el 2012 murder of Jose Gonzales. Investigators believe members of the Lemonwood Chiques criminal street gang are responsible for all of these murders.

DETALLES:
En 5/3/13 en aproximadamente 1700 horas, Oxnard police officers were dispatched to the intersection of Napoleon Avenue and Alexander Street regarding a fight with rocks and bottles. Residents on Sutter Place noticed the victim and called the police.

(OXNARD, CALIF) En mayo 8^ª 2013, en alrededor 7:30 a.m., members of the Oxnard Police Department’s Narcotics Unit served a search warrant at a residence in the 300 block of Kiawah River Drive in the City of Oxnard. The search warrant was part of a month long investigation regarding marijuana sales.

Durante la búsqueda de la residencia, detectives located over 15 pounds of marijuana and other evidence indicating that sales of marijuana were being conducted from this residence. They also learned that the home where the sales were being conducted was within 1000 feet of a nearby elementary school.

Two of the residents, Robert Mckee and Cameron Fletcher, were arrested and booked into Ventura County Jail for sales of marijuana as well as conducting this type of illegal activity within 1000 feet of an elementary school.

This case would not have been possible if not for the several anonymous tips we received during the investigation. The Oxnard Police Department encourages anyone with information on this case to call Detective Langford at (805) 385-7638. When the officers got to the house, they spoke with the victim who identified Antonio Aldaco as the person that sexually assaulted her. Aldaco had fled the house before police arrived. Investigators from the Oxnard Police Department’s Family Protection Unit are requesting the public’s assistance in locating the suspect.

En 7-11-13, en 4:25 P.M., Oxnard police officers attempted to stop a motorist for a traffic violation in the area of Hobson Way and 9^ª Calle. The vehicle sped away. A brief pursuit
ensued which covered less than one mile. When speeds reached 60 MPH on surface streets the pursuit was cancelled by officers in the interest of public safety.

The vehicle continued speeding S/B on “J” Street thru Wooley Road running a red light. The driver was seen by witnesses discarding illegal drugs out the vehicle window.

When the vehicle attempted to turn at “J” Street onto Guava Street it hit a curb and rolled over. Officers arrived on scene and arrested Post-Release Offender (PRO) Joseph Fry Senior, a 37-year old Oxnard resident. Fry suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision. Fry was wanted for a misdemeanor warrant. Fry is also being held on a violation related to the “Post-release Offender Program” (PRO) which releases non-violent, and non-serious offenders from prison pursuant to Assembly Bill 109. Fry was charged with possession and transportation of illegal substances.

DETALLES: ( Oxnard, California) With the beginning of school in Oxnard, the Oxnard Police Department would like to notify residents of increased traffic during peak times at all local elementary, middle, and high schools.

“This is always an exciting time of year for many in our city,” said Oxnard Police Chief Jeri Williams. “Children, parents, peatones, conductores, and crossing guards are encouraged to exercise safety-first as our families return to school,” she added.

The Oxnard Police Department has heard from community members and leaders who want to remind parents to give themselves extra time during school peak times to alleviate traffic or more dangerous conditions. Drivers are reminded that it is illegal to double and triple park to drop off or pick up students, and illegal U-turns are not only illegal, they can be dangerous.

Parents are reminded to drive carefully around school buses and children, and to be extra vigilant to ensure the continued safety of our school children and school crossing guards this time of year.

Oxnard Police remind drivers that it is very important to obey the posted speed limit and pay close attention to their surroundings at all times. Within a school zone, it is especially important to be alert, drive carefully, and follow the directions of the crossing guards.

Drivers should expect delays near school this week. We encourage drivers to know your route, give yourself an extra 15 acta, and drive the posted speed limit.

Promover, families are reminded to park only in lawful areas, drop-off children onto sidewalk or right-side of the vehicle—unloading school children into a traffic lane could put a child in harm’s way. We also encourage you to remind children to remain alert and look left, right, and then left again before crossing the street.

En septiembre 9, 2013 en alrededor 1530 horas, Oxnard Police Department officers responded to a call of a shooting in the area of Courtland and Clara Streets in Oxnard. Responding officers were unable to locate a crime scene or a victim.

A eso de las 1622 horas, officers from the Oxnard Police Department responded to the robbery of the business, la 76 gas station, en 3650 Saviers carretera. Officers learned that the suspect, described as a Hispanic male, appr. 30 años de edad, about 5’09”, wearing a black sweatshirt, blue jeans, and wearing a surgical mask entered the business with a handgun and demanded money. The clerk gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash, and the suspect fled the area on a bicycle. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the suspect.

This same business was robbed last week by a suspect of a similar description.

DETALLES: En 11/13/13 en aproximadamente 1500 horas, Oxnard police officers were patrolling the 1100 block of West Kamala Street when several citizens flagged down the police. The citizens told the officers that there were several subjects in the neighborhood that were harassing other people.

The offices obtained a description of the subjects and began looking for them. A patrol officer located a subject matching the description given by the citizens. The subject ran into the backyard of a residence where he was detained by police. The subject was found to be juvenile and in possession of a loaded firearm. The juvenile was arrested for several firearms violations.
