En noviembre 7, 2012, en aproximadamente 1500 horas, officers from the Oxnard Police Department responded to a radio call of a theft in progress at Fry’s Electronics, 1901 Ventura Boulevard. Upon officers’ arrival, el sospechoso, Juan Acosta, had fled from the loss prevention agents.
Durante la investigación de los oficiales, Acosta returned to the parking lot to retrieve his vehicle. An officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop, and suspect Acosta fled from the vehicle. The officer went in foot pursuit of suspect Acosta, and at the termination of the foot chase, suspect Acosta punched the officer and knocked the officer’s handheld radio out of his hand when the officer was requesting help.
An electronic control device (ECD) was deployed to take suspect Acosta into custody.
Un pasajero en el vehículo, Jesse Andrade, fled from the vehicle and barricaded himself in the public restroom inside of Burger King located at 2800 Paseo Mercado. Oficiales de la Unidad de Aplicación Especial del Departamento de Policía de Oxnard (SU) were dispatched to the scene. SEU officers were able to convince Andrade to surrender without incident.
Jesse Andrade was taken into custody for an outstanding felony probation warrant.
Juan Acosta was placed under arrest for commercial burglary, petty theft with priors, battery on a police officer, and interfering with police communication.
Juan Acosta was on the Post Release Offender (PRO) programa. The PRO program released nonviolent, nonsexual and nonserious offenders from prison pursuant to Assembly Bill 109.
