(OXNARD, California) – The Oxnard Police Department is releasing the names of the two homicide victims from this past weekend.

Daniel Arciga, a 22-year old Oxnard resident, was shot and killed on Saturday, Octubre 14, 2017, en aproximadamente 10:11 p.m. Oxnard police officers found Arciga in the 3300 bloque de la Merced Place. EMS arrived but declared Arciga deceased at the scene.

Guillermo Garcia, un residente de Oxnard de 27 años, was shot and killed on Sunday, Octubre 15, 2017, en aproximadamente 2:56 a.m. Garcia was found unresponsive by Oxnard police officers in the south alley of the 1300 block of Azalea Street. EMS arrived on scene and declared Garcia deceased.

Although both murders occurred several hours apart, Major Crimes detectives say there is no indication or evidence to believe that the murders are related.

DETALLES: (Oxnard, California) - A man found unresponsive in a north Oxnard alley died as a result of a homicide.

En octubre 15, 2017, en aproximadamente 2:56 a.m., Oxnard police officers responded to a call of gunshots heard in the 1300 block of Azalea Street. When the police officers arrived on scene they searched the area and found an unresponsive 27-year old Hispanic male in the south alley. EMS arrived on scene and declared the male deceased.

The Oxnard Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit responded to the scene to lead the investigation. Police officers and detectives located evidence of a shooting at the scene. sin embargo, a preliminary examination of the deceased male at the scene found no indication he was the victim of an assault.

An autopsy to determine the cause of death was scheduled for this morning. The autopsy confirmed that the male died as a result of a gunshot wound. The incident is being investigated as a homicide.

This is Oxnard’s 14th homicide of the year.

DETALLES: (Oxnard, California) - Two shootings in Oxnard left one person with a non-life threatening injury, and no victims were reported or located in another reported shooting incident.

The first incident occurred on October 14, 2017, en aproximadamente 9:25 p.m. at the Arco gas station, situado en 2850 Avenue South Rose. According to information obtained by police, a 20-year old Hispanic male was standing near the gas pumps when he was confronted by an unknown person. Durante el enfrentamiento, the victim was shot once in the leg. The victim drove himself to the Saint John’s Regional Medical Center. The victim’s injury is not life-threatening.

The second incident occurred on October 15, 2017, en aproximadamente 2:03 a.m. en el 2500 block of El Dorado Avenue. Several 9-1-1 calls were received from residents who heard numerous gunshots in their neighborhood. Police officers arrived at the scene and searched the area looking for any victims. Detectives are trying to locate a motive for the shootings and determine if they are related.

DETALLES: (Oxnard, California) - The Oxnard Police Department is investigating the death of a man found unresponsive in an alley in north Oxnard.

En octubre 15, 2017, en aproximadamente 2:56 a.m., Oxnard police officers responded to a call of gunshots heard in the 1300 block of Azalea Street. When the police officers arrived on scene they searched the area and found an unresponsive 27-year old Hispanic male in the south alley. EMS arrived on scene and declared the male deceased.

The Oxnard Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit arrived at the scene. Major Crimes detectives, along with a representative from the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office, conducted a preliminary examination of the deceased person at the scene but were unable to locate any significant injuries.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday afternoon. Further information will be released at the conclusion of the autopsy.

(OXNARD, California) – The Oxnard Police Department is releasing the name of the homicide victim from this past weekend.

En octubre 8, 2017, en aproximadamente 9:46 p.m., the Oxnard Police Department responded to a report of a shooting at the intersection of Ventura Boulevard and Santa Clara Avenue. Oxnard police officers arrived at the scene and located two shooting victims inside a full-sized truck, which was stopped at the intersection.

Alexis Jean Lopez, a 26-year old Camarillo resident, was seated in the truck when she was shot and killed. A male acquaintance was also in the truck with Lopez at the time of the shooting. The acquaintance, a 27-year old Hispanic male, was shot and transported to the Ventura County Medical Center. The acquaintance is listed in serious but stable condition. His wounds do not appear to be life-threatening.

Major Crimes Detectives responded to the crime scene and are leading the investigation. A motive for the shooting is unknown at this time.
