DETALLES: En noviembre 15, 2017, en 6:00 al, The Oxnard Police Department’s Special Enforcement Unit (SU), Unidad de Crímenes Violentos (VCU), K-9 Unit and Neighborhood Policing Team served two search warrants at two separate locations. The warrants are in response to a shooting that accrued in October 2017, en el 2800 block of San Marino Street, Oxnard. Investigators from the Violent Crimes Unit identified Ramirez as the shooter. DETALLES: En noviembre 12, 2017, en 6:30 pm, Oxnard police officers located Salinas driving in the area of north Oxnard. Salinas, who is wanted on felony charges for driving a stolen vehicle, fled from the officers when the officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop. Salinas failed to yield and a pursuit was initiated. The pursuit covered several areas of north Oxnard, before leaving the city traveling south on the 101 Autopista. Por último, the pursuit culminated in the City of Camarillo when Salinas struck another vehicle at the intersection of Arneill Road at Pondarosa Drive, rendering both vehicles inoperable. Salinas fled from the vehicle he was driving and was quickly taken into custody by Oxnard police officers. The driver of the vehicle Salinas struck sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Salinas also sustained minor injuries and was treated at a local hospital and later booked into county jail on felony charges of evading and hit and run causing injury. The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office investigated and completed the Collison report.

En noviembre 10, 2017, en aproximadamente 7:56 p.m., officers from the Oxnard Police Department and EMS personnel responded to an injury traffic collision involving a motorcyclist at the intersection of Oxnard Blvd. and Seventh St. Cuando llegaron los agentes, they determined that 30-year-old Oxnard resident, Victor Canizalez, was traveling northbound on Oxnard Blvd. on a 2015 Harley Davidson motorcycle. Canizalez collided with a 2003 Hyundai Sonata driven by a 17-year-old female that was traveling southbound on Oxnard Boulevard when the female driver attempted to make a left-hand turn onto Seventh St. Canizalez was thrown from his motorcycle and suffered serious injuries.

After the initial collision Canizalez’s motorcycle was struck by a 2016 Chevrolet Cruz that was traveling northbound on Oxnard Blvd. Neither the 17-year-old driver of the Hyundai nor the driver of the Chevrolet were injured. Canizalez was transported to the Ventura County Medical Center and is listed in critical condition. It is unknown at this time whether drugs or alcohol were involved. The collision is under investigation.

En noviembre 7, 2017, en aproximadamente 7:50 p.m., officers from the Oxnard Police Department responded to a radio call of a subject disturbing in the 2100 bloque del Norte Ventura carretera.

Officers arrived and detained Flores after he attempted to flee into an apartment complex. Officers found that Flores was in possession of a loaded semi-automatic handgun and narcotics. Flores is a documented gang member and a convicted felon being prohibited from possessing firearms. Flores was arrested for various gun, drug, and gang related charges.

En noviembre 7, 2017, en 7:00pm, Oxnard Police Officers responded to a robbery at the Hacienda Meat Market, 657 S. Ventura Rd.. Upon arrival they discovered the suspect had been disarmed and held by employees. It was determined that the 16 year old male suspect had entered the store and brandished a knife while demanding money from the clerk. It was then that an unidentified customer knocked the knife out of the suspect’s hands with a broom. Store employees then held the suspect down until police arrived.

During the arrest of the suspect, officers found a realistic looking handgun in one of the suspect’s pants pocket. The suspect was arrested and later booked into Juvenile Hall. No one was injured during the incident or arrest of the suspect.

En 11/7/17, en aproximadamente 1028 horas, Oxnard Police and Fire were dispatched to a train accident involving a pedestrian on Fifth St., east of Rose Ave. A la llegada, EMS personnel pronounced the victim on scene.

DETALLES: En noviembre 3, 2017, en 10:00 al, Oxnard policías respondieron a la 800 bloque de S. ‘G’ Street regarding a brandishing of a firearm. Officers learned, Juan Edward Ascencio, confronted the victim and threaten to shoot him. Ascencio led the victim at gunpoint to his vehicle. The victim quickly fled the area and called the police. The departments Special Enforcement Unit (SU), K-9 Unidad Unidad de Delitos Violentos y (VCU) all responded. It was later determined that Ascencio had left the area. Phone contact was made with Ascencio and he was arrested without incident in the area of Fifth Street and Ventura Road. Ascencio was charged with Criminal Threats, Exhibiting Deadly Weapon (Arma de fuego), and Kidnapping. Ascencio was subsequently booked into the Ventura County Jail.

DETALLES: (Oxnard, California) – Several law enforcement agencies joined the Oxnard Police Department in serving search warrants at five (5) locations in Oxnard this morning. The search warrants were in response to a recent spate of gang violence that resulted in one person dead and another person with a serious injury.

En octubre 14, 2017, en aproximadamente 9:25 p.m., a shooting occurred at the Arco gas station, situado en 2850 Avenue South Rose. One person was hit by gunfire and sustained a serious, but non-life threatening, injury. Within an hour, an additional shooting occurred in the 3300 bloque de la Merced Place. This shooting resulted in the death of 22-year old Daniel Arciga. Detectives believe the two shootings were gang related and that the second shooting was in retaliation for the first shooting.

Detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) investigated the shooting at the Arco gas station and identified the suspect as 19-year old Henry Magana. En octubre 20, 2017, VCU detectives served a search warrant at Magana’s residence and seized one firearm, two home-made “zip guns” and over 100 rondas de municiones. Magana was arrested on October 25, 2017, and booked into Ventura County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon.

The purpose of the search warrants was to seize and locate evidence related to the recent gang shootings. Detectives located and seized numerous items of gang paraphernalia and evidence of gang membership.

Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit and the Violent Crimes Unit will continue to investigate both shooting incidents. Detectives believe members of the community have valuable information that can assist with the investigations. The Oxnard Police Department encourages members of the community to contact detectives if they have information regarding the recent violent assaults and to report any suspicious activity to the police.
