En febrero 27, 2019 en aproximadamente 3:30 p.m., medical personnel from St. John’s Hospital informed the Oxnard Police Department that the victim succumbed to her injuries.

Detectives with the Oxnard Police Department’s Investigative Services Bureau are investigating the incident. Anyone who has information about this incident is urged to contact Detective Jacob Jundef at (805) 385-7680.

The female victim is listed in critical condition according to medical personnel.

The incident is being investigated by Oxnard Police Department Investigative Services Bureau. The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of her next of kin.

En febrero 24, 2019, en 11:21 pm, un oficial de patrulla del Departamento de Policía de Oxnard realizó una parada de tráfico en el área de Rose Avenue y Gary Drive. En febrero 23, a aproximadamente 6:14 p.m., agentes de la Unidad Especial de Aplicación (unidad de pandillas) attempted to conduct a traffic enforcement stop near the intersection of Rose Ave. y Pleasant Valley Rd. for a vehicle code infraction. The driver initially yielded in the strip mall in the 4800 blk of South Rose Ave. but then rapidly accelerated from the traffic stop after brief contact with the officers. The suspect drove with disregard for other motorists and pedestrians in the area. Officers made the decision to cancel the pursuit and follow up on the information they had regarding the vehicle and the occupants.

En febrero 22, 2019, en aproximadamente 3:00 p.m., officers from the Oxnard Police Department were called to the 1000 block of Yarnell Place reference possible cruelty to an animal that occurred on February 18th.

Officers reviewed surveillance cameras in the area and were able to identify Eric Danielson, un 37 year-old resident of Ventura, and another man utilizing a compound hunting bow in an alley between two commercial buildings. In the video, Danielson appears to release an arrow. The two walk out of frame of the cameras but shortly reappear with Danielson holding a dead cat that he disposes of in a nearby dumpster.

Officers spoke to Danielson who admitted that he had shot and killed the animal. Danielson stated that he “tracked” the cat with the bow but did not intend to shoot it.

Danielson was arrested for 597(un) of the penal code, un delito grave. He bailed out from the Oxnard Police Department on a $10,000 fianza.

DUI Checkpoint Nets One Arrest

The Oxnard Police Department Traffic Unit arrested one impaired driver while conducting a DUI/Driver’s license checkpoint on February 22, 2019. The checkpoint was conducted on Saviers Road south of Coach C. Lane between the hours of 8:00 p.m. y 2:30 a.m. The checkpoint resulted in the following:

• 608 vehicles were screened

• 1 DUI-alcohol suspect was arrested

• 19 drivers were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed or while suspended/revoked

• 29 citations were issued

In the company of Uribe was Enrique Munoz and Adriana Ramos. Enrique Munoz was in possession of a concealed, unregistered handgun and was arrested for the felony firearms violation; Adriana Ramos was arrested for a misdemeanor warrant.

Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Operation Planned for Oxnard

The Oxnard Police Department will take part in a bicycle and pedestrian safety enforcement operation aimed at educating bicyclists, conductores, y peatones en las leyes de tráfico, reglas, and responsibilities.

Officers will also look for pedestrians who cross the street illegally or fail to yield to drivers who have the right of way. Bicycle and pedestrian fatalities are rising at an alarming rate. En 2016, 138 bicyclists and 867 pedestrians were killed on California roads. Pedestrian fatalities are up nearly 33 ciento de 2012, and the number of bicyclists killed is up nearly 25 percent over the past five years. En 2018, the Oxnard Police Department has investigated six fatal collisions and 174 injury collisions involving bicyclists and pedestrians.

People walking should only cross the street using crosswalks or intersections, preferably with a stop sign or signal. People on foot should also look for cars backing up and avoid darting between parked cars, make eye contact with drivers and wear bright clothing during the day and reflective materials or use a flashlight at night.

Drivers should wait for pedestrians to cross the street, avoid distractions like using a cell phone, and be courteous and patient. All bike riders are reminded to always wear a helmet; helmets are required by law for those under 18. Bike riders should always go with the flow of traffic, let faster traffic pass and use hand signals when turning or stopping.
