En octubre 29, 2013, en alrededor 6:56 P.M., officers from the Oxnard Police Department and EMS personnel responded to the 2100 block of North Ventura Road in reference to an injury traffic collision involving black Toyota Camry, a white Ford van and a pedestrian. Cuando llegaron los agentes, they found that the Toyota had struck the pedestrian and then collided with the Ford van.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the Toyota Camry, driven by Edgar Raymond Cruz, was traveling southbound on Ventura Road. The Ford van was parked along the west curb line of the 2100 block of North Ventura Road facing southbound. Just prior to the collision, Pedestrian Jose Antonio Renteria had stepped off the sidewalk and was standing in the roadway at the rear of the van. For an unknown reason, the Toyota veered to the right and collided into Pedestrian Renteria and the rear of the van.

Jose Antonio Renteria died at the scene as a result of the injuries sustained from the collision. Driver Cruz sustained minor injuries from the collision and was transported to a local hospital.

It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision.

(OXNARD, California) – On November 23, 2013, en alrededor 2250 horas, Officers from the Oxnard Police Department were working enhanced gang enforcement in various neighborhoods throughout Oxnard due to recent incidents.

Officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Sarita Drive and Second Street. Durante una búsqueda del vehículo, the officers located a loaded handgun in the vehicle. The driver and lone occupant, Ronald Campos of Oxnard, was arrested for various firearm-related charges.

Campos is currently in the Post Release Offender Program, creado por Bill Bill 109 - el 2011 Realineamiento de la seguridad pública, que entró en vigencia en octubre 1, 2011. En 01/27/14 en 0813 hours a witness reported a burglary in progress at a residence in the 1800 Block of Bearden Court. Officers responded to the area and located two subjects, one carrying a television. One of the subjects fled upon seeing the officer and was able to escape. The other subject, Ivan Cordoba, was holding the television which was later identified as stolen from another nearby residence. Cordoba was arrested for residential burglary.

Information obtained from another witness led to the identification of the second subject, un varón de 16 años de edad. He was arrested later in the day for burglary.

Several alert neighbors who observed suspicious behavior and reported it to police were critical in the apprehension of the two suspects. There were additional burglaries in the area; it is believed that these suspects were responsible for at least two.
