DETALLES:

En marzo de 18, 2015, a aprox. 9:05 p.m., el Centro de Comunicaciones de Emergencia de Oxnard recibió un 9-1-1 llamada de un residente en el 5300 bloque de S. “J” Street who was reporting that a family member had overdosed on an unknown drug. Servicios médicos de emergencia (ccsme) were dispatched but upon their arrival, the subject had become combative with family members and the Oxnard Police Department was requested to respond.

Two Oxnard Police Officers and an Oxnard Police Sergeant arrived at the residence and contacted 27-year old Jesus Barajas in an upstairs bathroom. One of the officers had previously received Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training and was able to talk with Barajas to calm him down. Believing the situation was under control, EMS personnel were summoned into the residence. Inmediatamente, and without provocation, Barajas charged at an officer in an attempt to tackle him to the ground and was able to remove one of the officer’s folding knives.

During the next several minutes, officers struggled with Barajas who was actively fighting. Barajas was able to kick one of the officers in the face and bite another officer. An Electronic Control Device (Taser) was utilized several times but had little effect on Barajas. Officers were finally able to restrain Barajas while EMS personnel administered three (3) separate doses of a sedative before he could be handcuffed and taken into custody.

Barajas was transported to a local hospital to be evaluated before being booked into the Ventura County Main Jail. Two officers were transported to the hospital and treated for minor injuries. One officer sustained a minor cut and was treated at the scene.

DETALLES:En 4/29/15 en aproximadamente 1151 horas, Oxnard policías respondieron a la 4700 block of Cloyne Street reference a shooting victim. The shooting victim was transported to the Ventura County Medical Center in serious condition, but the wound is not considered life threatening.

En abril 30, 2015 en aproximadamente 2:36 a.m., officers from the Oxnard Police Department were dispatched to a possible shooting victim in the 4800 cuadra de South Rose Avenue. When officers arrived they located a vehicle that had driven into a business. Officers found a male subject in the vehicle that was unresponsive. Emergency Medical personnel arrived to provide aid to the victim but he ultimately died as a result of a gunshot wound.

DETALLES:El sábado, Junio 27, 2015, Officers from the Oxnard Police Department Special Enforcement Unit/ Gang Unit were conducting uniformed enforcement in the area of Rose Avenue and Fifth Street in response to a recent shooting that occurred on the 21st. Aproximadamente 11:30pm officers stopped a 1999 Nissan Maxima for a traffic violation. Several of the vehicle’s occupants were determined to be on probation including one of the passengers, 33 year old Oxnard resident Jorge Gonzalez. During a search of the vehicle officers located a loaded .38 caliber revolver concealed next to Gonzalez’s seat. Gonzales is a member of an Oxnard street gang and is prohibited from possessing firearms under California law. Gonzalez was arrested for several weapons violations and booked into the Ventura County Jail. La 27 year old female passenger was also arrested for an outstanding warrant.

The Oxnard Police Department Special Enforcement Unit is committed to reducing gang and firearms violence in the City of Oxnard through the strict enforcement of laws specifically targeting known, active gang members residing in the City. Citizens are reminded to contact the Police Department when they observe suspicious activity or are witness to a crime.

En agosto 9, 2015 en aproximadamente 1900 horas, Oxnard policías respondieron a la 300 block of North G Street reference a person hit by a vehicle. Cuando llegaron los oficiales localizaron a la víctima, 18 year old Bryan Ramirez. Ramirez was transported by ambulance to the Ventura County Medical Center in grave condition.

En agosto 14, 2015, VCMC staff notified the Oxnard Police Department that Mr. Ramirez had died as a result of his injuries he sustained from the collision. Investigators are still reviewing evidence and are trying to determine how this incident occurred. They believe that this incident was witnessed by several people and are requesting assistance from the public.

DETALLES: En octubre 25, 2015, en aproximadamente 0405 horas, Oxnard Police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 2400 bloque de Hillrose Place, regarding a subject armed with a handgun and threatening others. Witnesses reported the suspect was also involved in a dispute earlier, had brandished the handgun in a threatening manner, and fired the handgun in the backyard.

Officers obtained a description of the suspect and the vehicle he was driving. A responding officer located the suspect at the intersection of Vineyard Avenue and Oxnard Boulevard and detained him without incident. Witnesses positively identified suspect Yovani Ramirez, edad 31. A semi-automatic handgun was found concealed in the vehicle Ramirez was driving.

Ramirez was arrested on the charges of reckless discharge of a firearm, amenazas criminales, and brandishing a firearm in a threatening manner.

En 2/11/15, Oxnard police officers responded to a report of a carjacking in the 3100 bloque de la calle Clinton. The officers spoke to the victims of the carjacking and learned that the suspect used a shotgun during the commission of the crime. El sospechoso, described as a Hispanic male with tattoos on his arms, robbed the victims of their vehicle and other personal property.

En 2/16/15, Oxnard police officers took another report of a robbery and carjacking. The victims told officers that the suspect brandished a firearm at them. The suspect then told the victims to drive him to an area near Channel Island Boulevard and J Street, en Oxnard. At that location, the suspect robbed the victims of their personal property and of their car, which was described as a Cadillac CTS. The suspect was described as a Hispanic male with a tattoo on his neck and arms.

En 2/17/15, an alert Oxnard police officer noticed the carjacked Cadillac CTS driving ahead of him. The officer attempted to stop the stolen vehicle, but the driver of the stolen vehicle failed to stop and led officers on a vehicle pursuit. The driver of the stolen vehicle lost control during the vehicle pursuit and collided with a power pole. El controlador, 18 year old Salvador Maldonado, was arrested after trying to flee on foot. Maldonado was charged with driving a stolen vehicle, attempting to evade the police and for being in possession of methamphetamine. Maldonado had tattoos on both his arms and his neck, and is a member of an Oxnard criminal street gang.

Los investigadores de la Unidad de Crímenes Violentos (VCU) investigated the robbery and carjacking cases. Durante la investigación, VCU investigators were able to positively identify Maldonado as the suspect who committed the crimes on 2/11/15 y 2/16/15. Maldonado was charged with the two incidents of robbery and carjacking.

En 10/30/15 en el Tribunal Superior del Condado de Ventura, Salvador Maldonado pled guilty to several counts of robbery and carjacking. Maldonado was sentenced to 24 año y 8 months in prison for his crimes.

This is another great example of the hard work and dedication by the officers and investigators of the Oxnard Police Department, as well as the collaborative effort between members of the community, crime victims and the District Attorney’s Office.

En noviembre 24 en aproximadamente 0945, agentes del Departamento de Policía de Oxnard respondieron a la 100 Block of Fontana Drive and attempted to arrest Post Release Offender (PRO) Armando Arias, who had an outstanding felony warrant for a violation of his PRO status.

As officers began searching the residence, they believed Arias fled to a crawl space under the residence. Officers located a firearm in Arias’ bedroom and believed he may have been armed.

The Oxnard Police Department’s SWAT team responded, and made several efforts to gain Arias’ compliance. Chemical agent was introduced into the residence. A short time later a structure fire began; the Oxnard Fire Department was staged nearby and responded immediately and began firefighting efforts.

Sometime during the incident Arias had escaped. He turned himself in to the Camarillo Police Department after the incident.

DETALLES:En enero 8, 2016 en aproximadamente 3:35 pm, un 64 year old female victim reported that she was shopping at Whole Foods in Oxnard, CA when a female suspect approached her and distracted her while a male suspect stole the victim’s purse. The purse contained the victim’s cell phone, tarjetas de crédito, and cash. The suspects then went to two Target Stores in Ventura, CA and used the victim’s credit card to charge $20,000 in gift cards.

Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects. Their photos are attached and they are believed to be driving a white, 2008 Nissan Versa. If anyone has information about these suspects, please contact Detective Lucy Buttell at 805-385-7594 or [email protected].

En agosto 15, 2009, el Departamento de Policía de Oxnard y la ciudad de Oxnard Código de Cumplimiento a cabo una operación ilegal la aplicación del proveedor en la Ciudad de Oxnard. Cuatro citas fueron emitidas a los proveedores de lavado de coches por la violación de Oxnard Ordenanza de la Ciudad 22-218(b): Las aguas residuales de Contención del Sistema Requerida.
