En 2/24/08 en 0220 una hora 26 year male is dropped off at SJRMC by two unknown males. The victim had sustained a gunshot wound to the torso. While the overall crime rate in Oxnard has dropped by more than 60% per capita since 1992 we do, at times, experience these spikes of crime – typically between rival gangs that know each other and seek to inflict pain and injury.

Instead the boy commented that he thought “it was cool” that his friend had been killed in the drive-by shooting – basically implying to the officer that dying “for the gang” was a cool way to die. Frankly, the comment from this young boy has haunted me since hearing the story.

How in the world can we, as a society, turn this ship around? And certainly there are many, many other outstanding efforts being made in our community by a myriad of community based organizations. En 12/27/2009 en alrededor 5:11 PM, a male subject called the Oxnard Police Department and stated his daughter had threatened him with a gun. DETALLES:

En 5/6/10 detectives del Departamento de Policía de Oxnard llevaron a cabo órdenes de registro en el 2600 bloque de Rudder Ave en la ciudad de Port Hueneme y el 2100 bloque de Brigham Street, en la Ciudad de Oxnard. Esto fue en relación con dos robos ocurridos el 4/23/10 en la Ciudad de Oxnard. Detectives learned through their investigation that Keshia Royster, the girlfriend of David Lumas had attempted to lie to police detectives in attempts to create an alibi for David Lumas and Dante Payne. En 5-19-10 alrededor 12:20 PM, Officers responded to a call of a take over robbery that had just occurred at 120 Channel Islands Blvd. West la 5 Almacén de joyería De Mayo. En 5/22/10 en 04:45 horas, the Oxnard Police Department took a stolen vehicle report on a red 1991 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up tomada de la zona de Samuel Ave. & Lark St. En 5/22/10 en alrededor 10:40 horas, the victim spotted her vehicle being driven through a shopping center in the 2800 bloque de Saviers Rd..

En 6/25/10 alrededor 06:55 AM, Officers responded to a call of a robbery that had just occurred to a person at 2814 Saviers Rd., fuera del Lauderland lavado y secado. The victim exited the business with her purse on a cart. The suspect grabbed the purse from the laundry cart and a brief struggle with the victim ensued over the purse. The suspect fled with the victim’s property. The victim gave chase to the rear of the business. The suspect brandished a handgun at the victim, who continued to pursue the suspect.

As the suspect neared his vehicle, which was parked in a nearby neighborhood he fired one shot from his gun at the victim. The victim was not hit by the gunfire. The suspect entered his vehicle and fled the scene.

The Oxnard Police Department wants to remind residents of the dangers of pursuing the suspect of a crime. The best practice is to be a good witness and obtain a detailed description of the suspect(s) así como cualquier posible alejarse vehículos.
