En noviembre 11, 2015 en aproximadamente 8:48 a.m. a 55-year-old victim was collecting recyclables in the north alley of the 500 block of Eastwood Drive when the suspect drove eastbound through the alley, stopped next to the victim, and got out of the vehicle. The suspect had a short conversation with the victim and exposed himself to her. The suspect then grabbed the victim’s arm and pulled her towards his vehicle. The victim screamed and resisted at which time the suspect released her, ran to his car, and drove away eastbound in the alley. The suspect vehicle is only described as a white sedan.

En noviembre 29, 2015 en aproximadamente 12:40 PM, officers conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Martin Luther King Dr and Sonata Dr. Officers contacted three subjects in the vehicle which ultimately led them to search the vehicle and all three occupants.

Officers searched Ricardo Guerrero and found a loaded firearm in his possession. Guerrero immediately started fighting and resisting the officers when the firearm was located. Guerrero was taken into custody and arrested for possessing a loaded firearm and for resisting arrest.

The Oxnard Police Department continues to encourage residents to be partners in public safety as part of the Operation Safer and Stronger Initiative. El miércoles, Diciembre 16, 2015, en alrededor 10:10 a.m., officers from the Oxnard Police Department and EMS personnel responded to the intersection of Victoria Avenue and Pier Walk in reference to an injury collision involving a single vehicle.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the Dodge was traveling northbound on Victoria Avenue approaching the intersection of Pier Walk. For an unknown reason, the Dodge lost control and collided with the block wall located at the northeast corner of the intersection. The driver of the Dodge, John Kellas, was partially ejected from the vehicle and sustained significant injuries from the collision. He was transported from the scene to the Ventura County Medical Center where he is currently listed in stable condition.

It is unknown if alcohol and/or drugs are factors in the collision. La colisión es todavía bajo investigación.

Officers will be looking for signs of alcohol and/or drug impairment with officers checking drivers for proper licensing while delaying motorists only momentarily. Specially trained officers will be available to evaluate those suspected of drug-impaired driving.

The Oxnard Police Department wants everyone to be safe this holiday season and to remind all drivers to think before you drive. It’s simple; if you choose to drink, don’t drive. We also understand that there are many occasions during this time of year such as holiday gatherings with family and friends where drinking alcohol is a part of the celebration. Make the proper arrangements prior to drinking so that everyone stays safe. During this holiday season, the Oxnard Police Department will routinely deploy officers for dedicated impaired driving enforcement in an effort to keep our roadways safe.

En diciembre 18, 2015 en aproximadamente 9:15 p.m., officers observed a vehicle being driven with several mechanical violations in the area of Eighth and A Streets in Oxnard. A traffic stop was conducted in the 1000 Block of South A Street for the violations. El controlador, 21-year old Oxnard resident Jeremy Turner, was contacted and found to be in possession of concentrated cannabis and taken into custody for the narcotics violation.

Turner was arrested for drug related charges, possessing a loaded firearm in his vehicle and possession of stolen property. He was booked into Ventura County Jail for the violations.

En enero 4, 2016 en aproximadamente 1600 Officers from the Special Enforcement Unit were conducting gang enforcement in the south end of the city due to several recent gang related shootings in the area.

SEU officers conducted a traffic stop in the 400 bloque de Hueneme carretera. During the traffic stop they contacted Jesus Jasso, Margarito Solano, Mauricio Yepez and a fourth male adult. A search was conducted and Jesus Jasso was found to have a loaded handgun in his possession. He was arrested for weapons violations.

Mauricio Yepez was arrested for outstanding felony and misdemeanor warrants and Margarito Solano was arrested for a violation of probation.

The fourth subject was released at the scene.

All of these subjects are associated with an active criminal street gang.

SEU officers conducted a pedestrian stop on Julian Nunez at Samuel and Yucca. Nunez is associated with an active criminal street gang and a Post Release Offender. Nunez was found to have a loaded handgun in his possession. He was arrested for weapons violations and warrants.

En julio 11, 2010 en alrededor 0335 horas, a white Honda Accord, driven by Maria Rodriguez, was rear-ended by a beige Pontiac Grand Am near the intersection of Sanford Street and Beaumont Ave. El conductor de la Grand Am huyó de la escena de colisión en su coche. El Departamento de Policía de Oxnard ha sido galardonado con una $316,500 subvención de la Oficina de Seguridad Vial de California (OTS) for a year-long program of special enforcement and public awareness efforts to prevent traffic related deaths and injuries. The Oxnard Police Department will use the funding as part of the city’s ongoing commitment to keep our roadways safe and improve the quality of life through both enforcement and education.

“In keeping with our mission: To Protect the Community with Exceptional Service, and our 2014 effort to create a Safer and Stronger comunidad, we are pleased to have a funding source to focus on traffic safety,” said Oxnard Police Chief Jeri Williams. “Our efforts will focus on the increase in distracted driving, as well as drunk and drugged driving. As members of the community, the Oxnard Police Department is committed to educating the public in our goal of ultimately having zero traffic-related deaths.”

After falling dramatically between 2006 y 2010, the number of persons killed and injured in California traffic collisions saw slight increases in 2011 y 2012. Of particular concern are recent increases in pedestrian and motorcycle fatalities and the dangers of distracting technologies. This grant funding will provide opportunities to combat these and other devastating problems such as drunk and drugged driving and speeding.

“California’s roadways are still among the safest in the nation,” said OTS Director Rhonda Craft. “But, to meet future mobility, safety and sustainability objectives, we must create safer roadways for all users. The Oxnard Police Department will be using these and other resources to reach the vision we all share – Toward zero deaths, every 1 recuentos.”

Activities funded by the grant will include:
• Educational presentations
• DUI checkpoints
• DUI saturation patrols
• Motorcycle safety enforcement
• Distracted driving enforcement
• Seat belt and child safety seat enforcement

• Compilation of DUI “Hot Sheets,” identifying worst-of-the-worst DUI offenders
