DETALLES:En diciembre 21, 2015, en alrededor 12:00 pm, Detectives from the Oxnard Auto Theft Taskforce observed a stolen 97 Honda Accord being driven by Raylene Martinez. The passenger in the vehicle was Omar Tapia who is currently on parole for robbery. The vehicle had been reported stolen on December 20ª from Camarillo and had been involved in a theft from a business earlier this morning in Oxnard. Detectives saw Martinez and Tapia park the vehicle in the area of Frost Drive and San Juan Avenue. Martinez and Tapia then got into a second vehicle that was parked in the area. This vehicle had also been reported stolen earlier to the Oxnard Police Department. Martinez drove this vehicle to the area of Canterbury Way and Courtland Street where they were stopped and arrested.
Martinez was identified as the suspect in the earlier theft. She was arrested for petty theft, possession of stolen property and two counts of auto theft. Tapia was arrested for two counts of possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of methamphetamine and a parole violation for possession of a knife.
The Oxnard Police Department launched the Oxnard Auto Theft Task Force (OATTF) in early 2015. Detectives assigned to this task force proactively locate and arrest those responsible for committing auto thefts in Oxnard. The objective of the OATTF is to reduce the number of stolen vehicles in Oxnard through education, intervention, and enforcement.
