Encima 300 deserving children (siglos 6 a 12) - 40 from each of the six participating schools – were invited to the 14^ª annual Cops-4-Tots Toy Give-away at the La Colonia Police Storefront (211 La avenida del norte de Grant). Toys were made available for children that were selected by the schools or families that had toddler age children. An appearance by Santa Claus added to the excitement of the event.

The children and parents were treated with Mexican bread, Champurrado (hot drink), and treats with Christmas decorations.

The participating schools include: Ramona School, Rose Avenue School, Cesar Chavez School, Elm Street School, Green Valley, and La Escuelita.

Members of the Oxnard Police Department Command Staff, District Three Officers, and Military members from the Port Hueneme Naval Base, AVID students from Frank Intermediate School, Oxnard Police Volunteers, and other community volunteers were on hand to assist with handing out toys.

La 14^ª annual Cops-4-Tots Toy Give-away was made possible by donations from the Oxnard Police Officers Association, Latino Peace Officers Association (Ventura County Chapter), and members of the United States Navy, El Concilio del Condado de Ventura, the Oxnard business community, and residents of the City of Oxnard.

En la fecha y hora anterior, officers received a call of Gavin Hahn, 38 año, riding a bike in the area of Oxnard Shores near Harbor Boulevard. Hahn has a felony warrant for a narcotics-related violation. Hahn is also wanted for questioning in connection with several property crimes in the Oxnard Shores area.

An officer spotted Hahn in the area of Canal St. y Wooley Rd.. The suspect fled into the dunes area on foot. Additional officers responded to search for Hahn. A Ventura County Sheriff helicopter and its crew were dispatched to assist because of the large search area. After approximately two hours, officers ultimately learned that Hahn had swam across the canal and fled eastbound on foot after abandoning his bike and cell phone.

En 2-28-13, en 2307 horas, officers were contacted at the Oxnard Police Department by the mother of Carlos Eduardo Palacio, 21 año, Residente de Oxnard. Officers were advised that Palacio was bleeding from the left arm and had fled the family residence located in the 1800 Block of Ives Avenue.

Officers were dispatched to the residence but Palacio was not there. Palacio’s whereabouts are unknown. While no crime is suspected, officers need to check on Palacio’s well-being.

A search is continuing. Persons with information as to Palacio’s whereabouts should call the Oxnard Police and Fire Communications Center at (805) 385-7740.

DETALLES:Oxnard, CA – As one of America’s most anticipated and celebrated sporting events, the Super Bowl brings together families, friends and fans each year to enjoy the excitement of the big game. In many instances, fans will gather to watch the game at sports bars, restaurants or Super Bowl-themed parties. La Oficina de Seguridad Vial de California, along with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), National Football League and TEAM (Techniques for Effective Alcohol Management), have joined forces with law enforcement in the Evite la 14 – Ventura County Task Force DUI to spread an important safety message to the public about designating a sober driver on Super Bowl Sunday – Fans Don’t Let Fans Drive Drunk.

“Before choosing to drink, choose a sober designated driver. Avoid the unsportsmanlike conduct of driving drunk by handing off your keys so that you, your passengers and everyone on our roads can safely arrive home,” said Commander Andrew Salinas of the Oxnard Police Department. “Drunk driving is always preventable, and driving drunk could result in seriously injuring or killing yourself or someone else. Motorists can expect Police, Sheriff and CHP to have a visible presence and to stop anyone who makes the dangerous decision to drink and drive.”

These drunk-driving fatalities accounted for 29 percent of the total motor vehicle traffic fatalities in California. en adición, alcohol impairment among drivers involved in fatal crashes was almost twice as high during the weekend (31%) than during weekdays (16%) and four times higher at night (37%) than during the day (9%), according to NHTSA.

“We want everyone to make the right decision on Super Bowl Sunday,” said Chris Murphy, Director of the Californian Office of Traffic Safety. “Game planning a sober driver is the best bet possible. It’s everyone’s call to make this year’s Super Bowl Sunday safe.”

The Avoid DUI Patrols are funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety who reminds everyone to Report Drunk Drivers – Call 9-1-1!

If you’re attending a Super Bowl party or watching the game at a sports bar or restaurant:

Designate your sober driver before the party begins.
Avoid drinking too much alcohol too fast. Pace yourself. Eat plenty of food, take breaks, and alternate with non-alcoholic drinks.
If you don’t have a designated driver, ask a sober friend for a ride home; call a cab, friend, or family member to come and get you; or if possible stay where you are for the night and don’t drive until you are sober.

Never let friends drive drunk. Arrange a safe way for them to get home.
Always buckle up. It’s still your best defense against other drunk drivers.

If you’re hosting a Super Bowl party:

Make sure all of your guests designate their sober drivers in advance, or help arrange ride-sharing with sober drivers.
Serve plenty of food and non-alcoholic beverages at the party.
Host your party just like they do at the stadium. Stop serving alcohol at the end of the third quarter of the game. The fourth quarter is perfect for serving coffee and dessert.
Keep the phone numbers of local cab companies on hand and take the keys away from anyone who is thinking of driving drunk.
Recordar, you can be held liable and prosecuted if someone you served ends up in a drunk-driving crash.
If an underage person drinks and drives, the parent may be legally liable for any damage, injury or death caused by the underage driver.
Likewise, parents or other adults who provide alcohol to, or host a party where alcohol is available to, those under age 21 could face jail time.

En febrero 3, 2013 en alrededor 5:42 P.M., officers responded to a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian at the intersection of C Street and Linden Drive. A la llegada, officers found that a female (Nombre omitido), 64 years old of Oxnard had been struck by a pickup driven by Albert Gastelum Rubio, 43 años de Oxnard. The pedestrian sustained fatal injuries as a result of being struck and was pronounced dead at the Ventura County Medical Center.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the pedestrian was crossing eastbound across C Street in an unmarked crosswalk when the vehicle driven by Rubio, who was southbound on C Street, struck her.

Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the collision.

En 3/9/13, en alrededor 7:06 P.M. officers from the Oxnard Police Department and EMS personnel responded to the 4700 block of Reeder Avenue in reference to a call of a stabbing victim. La 17 year-old victim informed officers that he had been involved in a fight approximately 20 minutes earlier in a parking lot located in the 1200 bloque de Saviers carretera.

Officers were dispatched to Saviers Road and while searching for a crime scene, officers contacted the suspect, Sonsner Sailas. Durante la investigación, officers learned that Sailas had stabbed the victim in his right arm during the fight. Sailas, who sustained only minor injuries, was taken into custody and later booked into the Ventura County Jail.

The victim sustained a stab wound to his right arm and was treated and released at St. Centro Médico de John Regional.

En 03-09-13 en aproximadamente 2104 horas, agentes del Departamento de Policía de Oxnard respondieron a la 1400 block of Redwood Street in reference to a call of a robbery. The owner of the business told officers that an unknown Hispanic Male entered the restaurant, blandió una pistola, y exigió el dinero. When the owner confronted the suspect, the suspect fired a single shot, nearly striking the owner. After firing the shot, the suspect stole money from the register and fled the scene.

The suspect was described as being a Hispanic Male in his 20’s or early 30’s, about 5’5”, 180 lbs., wearing a black hoodie, y pantalones negros. The suspect’s face was concealed with a bandana.

No one was injured during the incident and the suspect is still outstanding.

En marzo de 15^ª, 2013, entre las horas de 9:00 P.M. y 3:00 A.m., officers from the Oxnard Police Department conducted two DUI/Driver’s license checkpoints.

The first checkpoint was conducted in the southbound lanes of Oxnard Blvd just south of Second Street and the second checkpoint was conducted in the southbound lanes of “J “ Street just south of Cedar Street.

Funcionarios seleccionados 390 motorists who passed through the checkpoints and conducted eight DUI investigations on drivers who had been drinking alcohol. Of those investigations, five drivers were arrested for DUI alcohol, one was arrested for DUI Drugs and possession of methamphetamine, and one was arrested for an outstanding warrant.

Citations were issued to four drivers for various Vehicle Code violations. 14 drivers were issued citations for driving without a valid driver’s license, one driver was cited for driving with a suspended driver’s license, and eight vehicles were towed from the checkpoints.

(OXNARD, California) – Oxnard Police Detectives have released a composite sketch of the suspect wanted for the killings of two Oxnard men and injuring a third.

El sábado, Septiembre 29, 2012, en alrededor 10 p.m., three men were gunned down in the south alley of the 300 block of Cuesta Del Mar Drive in South Oxnard. Two of the men were pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders and a third man was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor wounds.

An investigation revealed the men were approached by an unknown suspect who shot them. The motive and the identity of the suspect still remain unknown.

La Ciudad de Oxnard ofrece una $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of homicide suspects.
