Oxnard, CA – Oxnard Police Department Traffic Unit will be conducting a DUI/Drivers License Checkpoint on Friday, July 26th at an undisclosed location within the city limits between the hours of 6:00 p.m. a 12:00 a.m.

En 7/29/13 en 1331 horas, an Oxnard Police K-9 officer stopped a vehicle in the 2300 bloque del Sur K Street, por una violación del código de vehículos. El controlador, 34 year old Juan Ayala of Oxnard, was on probation and out on bail for gun and drug-related charges.

DETALLES:
En 8/18/13 en aproximadamente 0600 horas, an officer from the Oxnard Police Department was patrolling the area of Ventura Road and Devonshire Drive when he stopped a vehicle for a vehicle code violation. The driver was contacted and identified as Frank Granados Jr. It was determined that Granados was on probation for prior narcotic related offenses. During a probation search of the vehicle, a large amount of methamphetamine and a methamphetamine pipe was located. Granados was arrested for 11377(un) H&S, Possession of a Controlled Substance, 11379(un) H&S, Transportation of a Controlled Substance, 11364.1(un) H&S, Possession of a Smoking Device, y 3454(c) P.C., PRO violation, y fichado en la cárcel del Condado de Ventura.

Frank Granados Jr. was on the Post Release Offender (PRO) programa. The PRO Program released non-violent, non-sexual, and non-serious offenders from prison pursuant to Assembly Bill 109.

En septiembre 20, 2013, en alrededor 10:51 P.M., officers from the Oxnard Police Department and EMS personnel responded to the intersection of Hemlock Street and Capstan Drive in reference to a hit-and-run injury traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

El peatón, Aida Reyes, was transported to a local hospital where she underwent emergency surgery for her injuries. The Oxnard Police Department was informed this morning that Reyes died as a result of the injuries she sustained during the collision.

The Oxnard Police Traffic Unit is actively investigating this collision.

En 9/23/2013, en aproximadamente 4:40 AM, officers from the Oxnard Police Department were stopped in the area of Seventh Street and Ventura Road when they heard several gunshots coming from a nearby neighborhood. Officers responded to the area of the 1300 block of Hull Place to investigate.

Officers observed a vehicle leaving the area at a high rate of speed and attempted a traffic stop. Los ocupantes del vehículo, two juveniles, 15 y 16 años de edad, fled from the vehicle and were arrested after a brief foot pursuit.

Further investigation revealed that the vehicle the juveniles were driving, a Mitsubishi Galant, was stolen but had not been reported. Officers also located a loaded semi-automatic handgun inside of the vehicle. Both Juveniles were charged with auto theft, conspiracy and weapons violations. They were lodged into Juvenile Hall.

No one was injured during this event and officers were unable to locate any damage related to the gunshots being fired.

En 1116 horas, officers responded to Masters Donuts located at 440 S. Ventura Road after receiving a call of a robbery to the business. Officers learned a male in his 20s, 5-11, 195 libras, wearing a black “hoodie” and grey shorts, attempted to rob the business by using a handgun.

An employee said that the suspect approached the counter and showed her a handgun. He demanded money but fled without any cash or property. No one was injured during the incident.

The suspect was last seen running northbound from the area.

En 10-08-13, en 1129 horas, Officers attempted a traffic stop on a grey 90’s Honda Accord at Statham Blvd and Oxnard Boulevard for a traffic violation. The vehicle fled and a brief vehicle pursuit began. The officer discontinued the pursuit due to public safety reasons. Responding officers observed the vehicle in the 3100 block of Albany Drive which continued to drive erratically. The officers continued to follow the vehicle from a safe distance until the occupants abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot in the 3400 block of Frankfurt Court.

A perimeter was set up and both occupants were taken into custody after a brief search. DETALLES: En 12/3/13, en aproximadamente 1123 horas, an officer from the Oxnard Police Department Traffic Unit conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Rose Avenue and Gonzales Road. Further investigation revealed that the driver, Alfred Acevedo, was driving without a valid driver’s license. As the contact with Acevedo continued, a loaded handgun was found concealed on his person.

Acevedo was arrested without incident and charged with possession of a loaded, concealed and unregistered firearm. Más tarde fue trasladado a la Cárcel del Condado de Ventura.

En diciembre 19, 2013 en alrededor 0808 hours officers of the Oxnard Police Department responded to a call of a stabbing victim in the area of Briana Circle and Entrada Drive. Officers learned that 3 juveniles were walking in the area of Briana Circle and Entrada Drive when they were approached by 4 males driving in a dark green or black 3 series BMW. An altercation took place between the two groups and one subject received a single, non-life threatening, stab wound.

La 4 suspects were last seen leaving in the BMW southbound on Entrada Drive from Briana Circle.
