(OXNARD, California) – A man whose vehicle was stolen from Ventura called the Oxnard Police Department just after 12 p.m. today when he saw it being driven in the area of Gonzales Road and Rose Avenue in Oxnard.

Officers spotted the stolen Dodge pickup truck travelling westbound on Fifth Street near “A” Street. The driver refused to stop and led officers in a brief pursuit through downtown streets until reaching the 400 block of west First Street. The suspect then abandoned the truck, hopped fences and entered private yards. Officers set up a parameter in the neighborhood and found the suspect hiding in the backyard of a home in the 100 block of south “D” Street, which was less than a block away from the Oxnard Police Station.

The suspect was identified as 38-year-old Oxnard resident Carlos Ramirez who was booked into Ventura County Main Jail on suspicion of vehicle theft and reckless driving. En enero 8, 2015, en aproximadamente 5:07 p.m. an Oxnard Police Officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle for a vehicle code violation in the area of First St. and Juanita Ave. The vehicle initially failed to yield but finally stopped in the area of Wilson Ave. y calle tercera.

A high risk stop was conducted and four occupants were detained. One of the occupants of the vehicle was 29-year-old Oxnard resident Victor Rodriguez. A search was conducted of the vehicle due to Rodriguez’ probation status. Officers searched Rodriguez’ vehicle and located a sawed off shotgun that had previously been reported stolen. Rodriguez was arrested for possession of the stolen shotgun along with additional weapons violations. The three remaining occupants; a 16-year- viejo residente de Oxnard, a 17-year-old Oxnard resident, and a 14-year-old Oxnard resident were arrested for various misdemeanor charges.

En 1/16/15, en aproximadamente 1000 horas, officers received a call of 4 subjects in the 600 block of Holly Ave in possession of a gun and narcotics. Officers contacted all four subjects on “H” St north of Erica Pl. McBride fled but was apprehended a short distance away. McBride discarded an object as he tried to flee from officers. The object was recovered and found to be a revolver. McBride and Cameron were arrested for gun related charges. Smith and the 17 year old male juvenile were arrested for narcotic related offenses.

Members of the Oxnard Police Department Auto Theft Task Force observed a stolen Nissan Quest Van in the area of “H” Street and Erica Place. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle and the vehicle fled northbound on Ventura Road. Officers pursued the vehicle to the area of Moss Landing Blvd. and Kings River Dr. The suspects then fled on foot from the vehicle and were apprehended a short time later.

The driver identified as Luis Arrellano was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle and evading the police. The passenger identified as Richard Sandoval was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle. Both subjects were booked into the Ventura County Main Jail.

The Oxnard Police Department Auto Theft Task Force was created to address stolen vehicle issues within the City of Oxnard. The Oxnard Police Department advises citizens to park their vehicles in well lit areas, lock their vehicles and use anti-theft devices to secure their vehicles.

En 03/09/15 en 0005 horas, Oxnard police officers were dispatched to the Arco gas station at 105 North Oxnard Blvd reference a shooting victim. Upon arrival they contacted the victim Daniel Reyes in the parking lot. Reyes was transported to the Ventura County Medical Center and is listed in stable condition. Sus heridas no amenazan la vida. Investigators from the Oxnard Police Department’s Violent Crime Unit are investigating the shooting. The motive for the shooting is unknown.

En marzo de 12, 2015, en alrededor 7:48 P.M., officers from the Oxnard Police Department and EMS personnel responded to the area of Fifth Street west of Victoria Avenue in reference to an injury traffic collision involving a motorcycle and a truck. When they arrived on scene, they located a motorcycle, the driver of the motorcycle, Estevan Antonio Ruiz, and his passenger, a 17-year old juvenile, tumbado en la calzada.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2001 Honda CBR900RR motorcycle, driven by Estevan Antonio Ruiz, was traveling eastbound on Fifth Street west of Victoria Avenue at a high rate of speed. La 1995 Toyota pickup truck, driven by Philip Francis Ingraham, was also traveling eastbound on Fifth Street. The motorcycle collided with the rear of the pickup truck. Ruiz and his juvenile passenger were both ejected from the motorcycle. Both of them were wearing motorcycle helmets.

Ruiz and his passenger were both transported to the Ventura County Medical Center for injuries sustained as a result of this collision. Ruiz is currently listed in critical condition. His juvenile passenger is listed in stable condition.

It is unknown at this time whether or not alcohol or drugs played a role in this collision.

The Oxnard Police Department was notified this evening that motorcyclist Estevan Antonio Ruiz has died. The Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an investigation to determine the cause of death. The collision is still being investigated.

El martes, Marzo 25, 2015, en alrededor 9:03 p.m., officers from the Oxnard Police Department and EMS personnel responded to Victoria Avenue, south of Gonzales Road, in reference to an injury traffic collision.

When officers arrived at the collision scene, they found that three vehicles were involved and sustained extensive damage. Emergency medical personnel arrived and immediately engaged in rescue efforts as two drivers were still trapped inside the vehicles. Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to extricate Javier Murillo, the driver of a white Chrysler 200 sedan and also used them to free Maria Cortez from the driver’s seat of a silver Nissan Altima. Juan Rodriguez, the driver of the third vehicle, a silver Honda Accord, sustained minor injuries and was later released from the scene.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the Chrysler, for an unknown reason, was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of Victoria Avenue when it collided head-on with the Nissan Altima. Almost simultaneously, a secondary collision occurred when the Chrysler struck the Honda Accord that was also traveling southbound on Victoria Avenue.

Driver Murillo was transported from the scene to the Ventura County Medical Center where he underwent emergency surgery for extensive injuries. Actualmente se encuentra en estado crítico.. The right front passenger in her vehicle, Manuela Jara-Avila, was transported to the Ventura County Medical Center and is in stable condition. En respuesta a una reciente serie de crímenes violentos relacionados con pandillas, El jefe de policía de Oxnard, Jeri Williams, celebró una reunión especial el lunes, Marzo 9, 2015 con miembros de la Junta Asesora del Jefe, así como con varios líderes religiosos de toda la comunidad. La situación

La respuesta del Departamento de Policía de Oxnard

El Departamento de Policía de Oxnard ha reasignado una variedad de recursos destinados a detener el ciclo de violencia, así como a proporcionar una mayor presencia uniformada para tranquilizar a los residentes del vecindario.. La Oficina de Servicios de Campo ha aumentado las patrullas en bicicleta en los vecindarios afectados y ha mejorado los niveles de personal de la Unidad Especial de Ejecución. Miembros de la comunidad exigen que cese la violencia

DETALLES:

En 5-23-15 acerca de 0213 horas, Oxnard Police Officers were dispatched to a business in the 2800 bloque de S. Rose Avenue regarding a suspicious subject. The officers located the subject and identified him as Jorge Coria. While the officers were interviewing Coria he suddenly stood up and ran away. The officers pursued him on foot as he ran across Oxnard Blvd. They observed him remove a handgun from his waistband and discard it. Coria fell as he was running and was taken into custody without further incident. The officers inspected the firearm and found it was a loaded .38 revólver calibre. Coria was booked into the Ventura County Jail for numerous Felony firearms violations and resisting arrest.

In an effort to address the increase in firearms-related crimes, the Oxnard Police Department launched the Operation Safer and Stronger Initiative, así como el equipo de ataque de armas de fuego (RÁPIDO) led by the Violent Crime Unit, to proactively remove firearms from prohibited persons within the city. The objective of this initiative and FAST is to reduce gun violence in Oxnard through education, intervention, and enforcement.

INCIDENTE:	Court Operation Leads to Seven Arrests for Suspended Driver’s Licenses

El lunes, Junio 15, 2015, entre las horas de 8:00 a.m. y 12:00 p.m., officers from the Oxnard Police Department Traffic Unit conducted a special enforcement operation targeting drivers who appeared in court for cases involving imposed driver’s license suspensions. Each of the individuals appearing in court was informed or reminded by a judge that their driving privilege was suspended.

Durante la operacion, seven individuals left the court room, drove away from the courthouse and were stopped by officers. Officers arrested all seven drivers for violations of driving with a suspended driver’s license. Four of the drivers had DUI related driving suspensions, two had failure to appear in court suspensions and one driver’s privilege was suspended from a previous arrest for the possession of a large quantity of marijuana. The seven vehicles were towed from the scene of the stop and potentially face a 30-day impound.

The Oxnard Police Department will continue to conduct operations like these to help make our community and roadways safer.

These operations are funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Transportation Administration.
