DETALLES: En 11/13/13 en aproximadamente 1500 horas, Oxnard police officers were patrolling the 1100 block of West Kamala Street when several citizens flagged down the police. The citizens told the officers that there were several subjects in the neighborhood that were harassing other people.

The offices obtained a description of the subjects and began looking for them. A patrol officer located a subject matching the description given by the citizens. The subject ran into the backyard of a residence where he was detained by police. The subject was found to be juvenile and in possession of a loaded firearm. The juvenile was arrested for several firearms violations.

A eso de las 2100 horas, agentes del Departamento de Policía de Oxnard respondieron a la 100 block of South Grant Avenue regarding a fight where one subject may have been in possession of handgun. As officers arrived, one subject fled from the officers. Officers did not locate this subject, but did find a loaded handgun that appeared to have been discarded.

Officers checked the area but were unable to locate a victim or any witnesses.

En 2239 horas, Oxnard Police Officers responded to a call of shots fired in the 1800 Block of Napoleon Avenue. Officers arrived on scene and located evidence of a shooting.

Un corto tiempo después, a call of a shooting victim at St. John’s hospital was received. Officers arrived at the hospital and contacted the victim, Robert Michel (31 año) and additional witnesses. The victim’s injuries were not life threatening.

The suspect vehicle was described as a newer model dark blue Toyota Corolla or Tercel with tinted windows, driven by a Hispanic male with a goatee, and red hat. It was unknown if there were additional occupants.

En enero 25, 2014 en 0402 horas, Officer Steve Eckman was driving westbound on Channel Islands Blvd. at Raiders Way when he saw a confirmed stolen vehicle turn eastbound on Channel Islands Blvd. from Raiders Way. The vehicle had been reported stolen at 0120 hours from the 600 bloque de South Oxnard Blvd. Upon seeing the police unit, the suspect fled at a high rate of speed eastbound on Channel Island Blvd. Officer Eckman then activated his lights and siren and initiated a vehicle pursuit.

El sospechoso, later identified as Andy Franco, led Officer Eckman on a brief two minute vehicle pursuit into the Lemonwood Neighborhood of Oxnard. The pursuit came to an end on Beaufort Drive north of Ives Avenue when the suspect stopped abruptly. When the suspect stopped, a slow speed collision occurred between Officer Eckman’s police unit and the suspect vehicle. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident after the slow speed collision. No hubo heridos. Damage to both vehicles was minor.

El sospechoso, Andy Franco, is a repeat auto theft offender being both the driver and passenger in prior stolen vehicle investigations. Franco was booked into the Ventura County Jail for Auto Theft 10851 CVC and Felony Evading 2800.2(un) CVC.

The Ventura County Avoid the 14 Coalition will be deploying special DUI Saturation Patrols in communities around the county. Every regularly scheduled patrol officer working will be watching for the tell-tale signs of impaired driving before, during and after the game.

En enero 31, 2014, en alrededor 1755 horas, agentes del Departamento de Policía de Oxnard respondieron a St. John’s Regional Medical Center reference a gunshot victim. Oficiales contactaron con la víctima, Armando Rivera, 25 años de Oxnard, who told them that he, and two friends, were walking in the 300 block of West Hueneme Road when they were confronted by two subjects. After a short verbal exchange, shots were fired from a small caliber handgun and the victim received a single, non-life threatening gunshot wound. The victim was driven to St. John’s Regional Medical Center by an unknown person.

The Oxnard Police Department received information that a black Nissan Maxima or similar type vehicle may have been involved in the incident.

DETALLES: En 02/23/14 en aproximadamente 2134 horas, oficiales fueron enviados a la 200 block of West Juniper Street regarding a shooting victim. When officers arrived they located a male subject that was shot. The male subject was transported to VCMC where he was listed in critical condition.

En 02/25/14, the victim died as a result of his injuries. He has been identified as Austin Martin, un 23 residente de Oxnard años de edad. Investigators are following up on leads in hopes of identifying the suspect.

En 12/20/13, the Oxnard Police Department had responded to a shooting in the 600 block of West Juniper. The investigation into that incident revealed that Austin Martin had shot and killed a subject he knew. The victim was identified as 29 year old Oxnard resident Jackie Williams. The incident was still under investigation and there were indications that Williams was shot in self-defense. Martin had not been charged in the case.

En marzo de 5, 2014, en alrededor 0008 horas, officers from the Oxnard Police Department responded to the corner of Juanita Avenue and First Street to contact a carjacking victim. The victim told officers that he was called to the area to pick up an acquaintance. When he arrived at the intersection, he was confronted by suspect #1 who pointed either a knife or gun at him and told him to get out of the vehicle. He surrendered his vehicle, at which time, the suspect and the female acquaintance fled in the vehicle.

Officers located the vehicle unoccupied in the 4400 Bloque de Frost Drive. It was recovered for further investigation.

There were no injuries as a result of this incident.

En abril 6, 2014 en aproximadamente 1930 horas, members of the Oxnard Police Department’s Special Enforcement Unit (SU) were working enhanced gang enforcement throughout the city due to the recent violence.

Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 1000 block of North “H” St. and made contact with Jhonni Hernandez, Ernesto Nieto and a male juvenile. Ernesto Nieto is a documented gang member and currently released on parole. He was being supervised via an electronic monitoring device.

During a search of the vehicle a loaded altered shotgun was located.

Hernandez was arrested for several firearm related charges and Nieto was arrested for violation of parole. The juvenile was released.

En 4/14/14 en aproximadamente 1306 horas, Oxnard police officers responded to a person that was stabbed at Beck Park, located at the intersection of C Street and Kamala Street in Oxnard. The person stabbed was placed in an ambulance and transported to the Ventura County Medical Center. The person stabbed was listed in critical but stable condition.

According to witness statements, the person stabbed was involved in a verbal altercation with another person at Beck Park. The altercation turned physical, at which point the stabbing occurred.

Detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit are currently investigating this case.
