Actualización
En 7:10 a.m., missing person, Myron Selwyn, was located at the shopping center in the area of Rose Avenue and Gonzales Road. Selwyn was not injured or in distress. He was taken back to his residence and where he is being cared for by staff at the facility.

The Oxnard Police Department is currently conducting a search for a critical missing 80 year old man who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease. En 2:35 a.m., the man was reported missing from a care home in the 1500 block of Martin Luther King Drive. The man is Myron Selwyn. He is described as a white male, 6’3’ 180 libras, with grey hair, y ojos marrones. He is wearing a blue short-sleeved shirt and jeans, but no jacket. It is not known if Selwyn is wearing any shoes.

The Oxnard PD is particularly concerned for the Selwyn’s well being because of his level of dementia, and the fact that he is not properly dressed for the cold weather conditions.

If anyone locates Selwyn, they are asked to call 911 inmediatamente.

(Oxnard, California) El lunes, Abril 23, 2012 en alrededor 7:45 p.m. Oficiales Oxnard PD respondieron a la intersección de Cesar Chavez Drive y la Avenida Rose en Oxnard. Un joven de 16 años de edad, residente de Oxnard hombre fue golpeado mientras conducía su bicicleta en el paso de peatones al norte de la intersección.

Se determinó que la balacera ocurrió dentro de un negocio abandonado, the teen was traveling east, across the north side of the intersection against a red light. En mayo 11, 2012, en alrededor 8:40 p.m., Oficiales Oxnard PD fueron enviados a un robo a mano armada que se produjo en el Gold & Emporium Joyería ubicada en 714 Norte Ventura carretera. Cuando llegaron los agentes contactaron con el empleado de la tienda que dice que un hombre blanco entró en la tienda armado con una pistola. El sospechoso exigió el dinero de la caja registradora. The employee fled the store, leaving the suspect inside the business. According to the surveillance cameras, the suspect later left the business without any money. (Oxnard, California) The Oxnard Police Department and Ventura County District Attorney’s Office jointly announced today that the Superior Court approved their petition to remove 81 named individuals from the city’s two gang injunction lists. The individuals were removed from the gang injunction restrictions because they are no longer believed to be active gang members. This assessment was made by gang detectives from the Oxnard Police Department, and the petition and hearing was facilitated by the District Attorney’s Office.

Oxnard’s gang injunctions were issued in 2005 y 2006 in an effort to address a high number of crimes committed by gang members in Oxnard. Oxnard’s gang injunctions apply to two gangs – the Colonia Chiques and Southside Chiques. Desde 1992, the Colonia Chiques gang is believed to be responsible for more than 2,000 crimes in Oxnard. The Southside Chiques are believed to be responsible for more than 1,000 crimes in Oxnard in recent years.

Gang injunctions are civil lawsuits against street gangs authorized by law because the behavior of these individuals creates a public nuisance that harms the ability of community members to enjoy a peaceful quality of life. Injunctions apply to specific geographic areas called “safety zones” and to only those documented gang members who have been served with copies of the injunction. The safety zones were designated based upon the areas of criminal activity by each gang.

Injunctions seek to improve the quality of life of residents and workers in the safety zones, reduce gang crime, and encourage gang members to change their lifestyle and behavior while, at the same time, deterring our youth from joining a gang in the first place. Injunctions also enhance the ability of law enforcement to re-allocate resources to focus on other crime trends and issues.

The Oxnard Police Department and Ventura County District Attorney filed a motion with the court to dismiss 81 individuals from the two injunctions who are not presently viewed as active gang members. The motion was granted on June 29, 2012, and the affected individuals will be notified. In the event that any of these individuals become involved in criminal activity in the future, police officers may re-serve them with the injunction. Existen 276 active gang members who remain on the Colonia injunction and 66 on the Southside injunction. The Oxnard Police Department intends to conduct periodic reviews of its lists of enjoined persons.

Attached are the preliminary crime statistics for the 2012 mid-calendar year. The Oxnard Police Department reports crime statistics to the FBI for the annual Uniform Crime Report (UCR). The FBI is responsible for collecting, publishing and archiving these statistics. This report was conceived in 1929 as a method of providing reliable, uniform crime statistics for the nation.

The report refers to “Part 1 crimes” which include two categories – violent crime and property crime. Violent crimes include: homicidio, violación, robo, and aggravated assault. Property crimes include: robo con fractura, robo de autos, larceny and arson. The table below shows Part 1 crimes in the city of Oxnard for 2011 y 2012.

  • Total, Parte 1 crimes increased by 7.9 percent in the first six months of 2012

  • Violent crimes decreased by 7.7 por ciento

    • The negative total in the rape category is attributed to crimes which were reported within calendar year 2011, but were deemed unfounded during calendar year 2012. A consecuencia, there were more reported crimes unfounded than reported during the first six month period of this year

  • Property crimes increased by 10.7 por ciento.

En 9-22-12 en 2200 horas, Oficiales de policía de Oxnard y personal del Departamento de Bomberos de Oxnard respondieron a la 3800 Bloque de Saviers carretera referencia a un vehículo de colisión única reportado en una estructura. Se informaron tanto el vehículo y estructura a estar en llamas.

En 09-24-12 en aproximadamente 1715 horas oficiales del Departamento de Policía de Oxnard respondieron a una llamada de un robo en progreso en el 1600 bloque de Evangeline Place. El sospechoso fue descrito como un hombre negro que fue visto corriendo por el barrio. As officers arrived in the area, there were reports from citizens that a subject matching that description was attempting entry into a second residence in the area. The suspect confronted the resident and took the phone away, preventing the resident from calling the police. El sospechoso huyó de la residencia de oficiales buscaban la zona. During the investigation it was found that the suspect, who was identified as Christopher Mack, had made entry into two residences while evading police. DETALLES: En la fecha y hora arriba oficiales respondieron a St. Hospital Johns relación a una víctima punzante que había llegado a la sala de emergencias. La víctima dijo a los oficiales que él y su esposa estaban respaldando su vehículo fuera de una plaza de aparcamiento en el aparcamiento cuando se enfrentaron a dos sospechosos. DETALLES:
Aproximadamente 4:50 PM en octubre 6, 2012, el Departamento de Policía de Oxnard Centro de Comunicaciones de Emergencias recibió varias llamadas de una persona que tira un arma en Del Sol Park. DETALLES:
En noviembre 7, 2012, en aproximadamente 1500 horas, officers from the Oxnard Police Department responded to a radio call of a theft in progress at Fry’s Electronics, 1901 Ventura Boulevard. Upon officers’ arrival, el sospechoso, Juan Acosta, had fled from the loss prevention agents.

Durante la investigación de los oficiales, Acosta returned to the parking lot to retrieve his vehicle. An officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop, and suspect Acosta fled from the vehicle. The officer went in foot pursuit of suspect Acosta, and at the termination of the foot chase, suspect Acosta punched the officer and knocked the officer’s handheld radio out of his hand when the officer was requesting help.

An electronic control device (ECD) was deployed to take suspect Acosta into custody.

Un pasajero en el vehículo, Jesse Andrade, fled from the vehicle and barricaded himself in the public restroom inside of Burger King located at 2800 Paseo Mercado. Oficiales de la Unidad de Aplicación Especial del Departamento de Policía de Oxnard (SU) were dispatched to the scene. SEU officers were able to convince Andrade to surrender without incident.

Jesse Andrade was taken into custody for an outstanding felony probation warrant.

Juan Acosta was placed under arrest for commercial burglary, petty theft with priors, battery on a police officer, and interfering with police communication.

Juan Acosta was on the Post Release Offender (PRO) programa. The PRO program released nonviolent, nonsexual and nonserious offenders from prison pursuant to Assembly Bill 109.
