DETALLES: In response to several recent violent crimes over the past week, the Oxnard Police Department is responding with a multi-faceted operational and community strategy to assist with the on-going investigations and to strengthen our community partnerships.

Effective immediately, we will have additional officers dedicated to community patrol across the city and will be deploying the Mobile Command Post to continue community outreach in the neighborhoods affected by the recent violence. La Unidad de Policía de Oxnard Especial de Aplicación (SU) will be providing enhanced uniformed gang enforcement and the Traffic Unit will be supporting regular patrol efforts.

In the past few days, investigators have served search warrants and will continue to canvass the affected neighborhoods in an attempt to gather information to help determine motive and suspects in the latest incidents. DETALLES: En marzo de 21, 2015 en 8:30 P.M., el padre de 7 year old Tyler Melgoza came to the Oxnard police department to report that the child’s mother, Jessica Melgoza, failed to return Tyler after his court ordered overnight visitation. Jessica Melgoza was required to return Tyler to his father at 7:30 P.M. on March 21, 2015.

The Oxnard Police Department’s Family Protection Unit along with the Ventura County District Attorney’s Child Abduction and Recovery Unit are currently investigating the whereabouts of Jessica Melgoza and her son Tyler Melgoza. Investigators believe that Jessica Melgoza has fled to Mexico with son Tyler. Jessica is believed to be driving a blue, 1998 Volkswagen Jetta with black doors. The license plates to the vehicle were recently reported stolen which means the vehicle has either false license plates or no plates at all.

DETALLES: (OXNARD, California) – On December 14, 2015, Detectives from the Oxnard Police Department’s Family Protection Unit initiated an investigation after receiving information that a 13 year old female disclosed that she was inappropriately touched by a subject that coached her volleyball team at Curren Elementary School in Oxnard. The subject was identified as William Esau Matau, 23 años de edad. William Matau is employed by the City of Oxnard Recreational and Community Services Department as an athletic coach for the afterschool program. The Oxnard Elementary School District contracts with the City of Oxnard to provide afterschool programs at various schools throughout the city. Matau coached 6^ª, 7^ª, y 8^ª grade females in volleyball, basketball and soccer at Curren Elementary School in Oxnard.

Durante la investigación, detectives learned of a second 13 year old female victim who was having inappropriate conversations with Matau by text messaging and video messaging. William Matau was arrested for Penal Code Section 288(un): Lewd Act with a child under the age of 14; and Penal Code 647.6(un): Child Annoying. Matau is currently being held at the Ventura County Main Jail where his bail has been set at 60,000.00.

En 12/17/09 en aproximadamente 0015 hours an Oxnard Police Officer observed a vehicle fail to stop for the stop sign at the intersection of Ninth Street and “E” Street. When the officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle, the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed. Members of the media have inquired about the driver’s name. The driver of the SUV was Suisami James Faasua, edad 22, de Oxnard. He was wearing his seatbelt and both of the vehicle’s front airbags deployed. OXNARD, California – El sábado de marzo 23, 2013, en alrededor 4:00 p.m., Oxnard Police arrested a 39-year-old Santa Paula man for secretly videotaping females under their clothing as they shopped at Costco in Oxnard. Cervada concealed his iPhone to capture images and video of unsuspecting females.

Oxnard detectives from the Sexual Assault Unit reviewed video from Cervada’s iPhone and iPad which showed that there are other victims that have not been identified. Detectives further discovered that Cervada has been committing these crimes in other locations throughout Ventura County, such as Target in Camarillo. The females are usually wearing a skirt or dress at the time of the crime.

Oxnard Police detectives are seeking the public’s help in locating anyone who has any information on Cervada, or who may have seen him at any businesses throughout Ventura County.

The checkpoint was conducted in the southbound lanes of Oxnard Boulevard just south of Esplanade Drive and in the westbound lanes of Vineyard Avenue just south of Esplanade Drive. The CHP are deploying all available officers for their Maximum Enforcement Period during the day New Year’s holiday period.

All regularly scheduled traffic and patrol officers will focus efforts at stopping and arresting DUI drivers during their normal shifts. Multiple DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoints, Multi Agency DUI Task Force operations and local Roving DUI patrols are all part of this region-wide crackdown during the 20 Campaña de día de fiesta de invierno.

The Oxnard Police Department Traffic Unit and law enforcement personnel from the Port Hueneme Police Department, Santa Paula Police Department, Camarillo Sheriff’s Department, Ventura County Community College District Police Department and the Alcohol Beverage Control (Abecedario) Ventura County will be conducting a multi-location sobriety and driver’s license checkpoint on Thursday, Julio 3, 2014 at undisclosed locations within the City of Oxnard between the hours of 6:00 p.m. a 12:00 a.m. This checkpoint kicks off the Avoid the 14 Ventura County DUI Task Force operations scheduled this July 4^ª holiday weekend. The Thousand Oaks Police Department has planned an additional checkpoint to be held in the City of Thousand Oaks on Saturday, Julio 5^ª.

Officers will be looking for signs of alcohol and/or drug impairment while checking drivers to ensure they are properly licensed. Specially trained officers will be available to evaluate those suspected of drug-impaired driving.

During the first six months of 2014, the Oxnard Police Department has investigated 10 fatal collisions resulting in the deaths of 11 individuals. Two of those collisions involved an alcohol and/or drug impaired driver.

The Oxnard Police Department will continue to conduct DUI enforcement operations to help make our community and roadways safer. Report Drunk Drivers – Call 9-1-1.

Funding for this checkpoint is provided to the Oxnard Police Department by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
