El jueves, 3/6/14, en aproximadamente 11:01 a.m., the Oxnard Police Department’s Emergency Communications Center received numerous calls of a subject climbing onto a power pole in the 3400 block of South “C” Street.

Upon their arrival, officers located a 22-year old male standing on top of a power pole with stereo headphones covering his ears. The initial Oxnard Police Officers on scene had previously attended Crisis Intervention Training (CIT). CIT training is designed to assist officers in de-escalating potentially dangerous situations with persons suffering from mental illness or experiencing an emotional crisis. With the assistance of Southern California Edison Company lift buckets, officers attempted to begin dialogue with him but he refused to acknowledge them. Edison Company employees assisted in making all of the nearby power lines safe.

Based on the circumstances, members of the Oxnard Police Department Hostage Negotiation Team (HNT) and the Oxnard Fire Department were called to the scene to assist. HNT negotiators began communications with the subject from nearby lift buckets and were able to convince the subject to come down from the nearly 40-foot high pole. After nearly four (4) horas, an empty lift bucket was raised to the subject and he was safely rescued from the pole. The subject later told officers he was despondent over recent family issues. He was safely transported to a Ventura County Mental Health facility for evaluation.

DETALLES:

En junio 3, 2014, en aproximadamente 11:20 P.M, Oxnard Police Officers responded to a call for service related to a man down in the area of Wooley Road and Richmond Avenue. They arrived on scene and found an unconscious male subject lying near the roadway. Emergency medical personnel also responded, but unfortunately the male victim was determined to be deceased. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin.

The Oxnard Police Department is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding this death. An autopsy examination is scheduled to take place on June 4, 2014.

These seminars are led by Crime Prevention and Crime Free Coordinator, El detective Crystal Walker.

This series of seminars builds on our Department’s Operation Safer and Stronger Initiative, which was launched by Oxnard Police Chief Jeri Williams at the start of the year to empower residents to be partners in public safety and address the increases in property crime citywide.

“We received an overwhelming response from community members, young and older, and from every corner of our City at our first seminar. En 10/17/14, en aproximadamente 12:25 p.m., Oxnard policías respondieron a la 2000 block of North Ventura Road reference a report of shots fired. Cuando llegaron los agentes, witnesses stated that the incident involved a male and a female inside a grey four-door newer model sedan. The male and female left in the vehicle prior to the officers’ arrival. Officers located evidence at the scene indicating that at least one shot had been fired at that location.

Patrol officers and investigators continued to investigate the case throughout the day and learned that the incident involved a married couple. They were identified as 24-year old Anthony Carbajal and 24-year old Valarie Carbajal (see pictures below). Anthony Carbajal is currently wanted for a probation violation and for a separate domestic violence incident. Investigators are also interested in speaking with Valarie Carbajal to check on and ensure her safety and well-being.

DETALLES: En 4/16/14 en aproximadamente 0400 horas, oficiales y detectives del Departamento de Policía de Oxnard, the Ventura County Sherriff’s Office, District Attorney Investigators, and the FBI served simultaneous gang-related search warrants. The search warrants were served in the cities of Oxnard, Camarillo and El Rio. The search warrants were a result of ongoing investigations related to recent violent gang crimes in the City of Oxnard.

During today’s search warrants, three adults and one juvenile were arrested:

Ignacio Corral of Camarillo was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance.

Francisco Magana was arrested for being a felon in possession of ammunition and a parole violation.

Tabitha Ceja of Oxnard was arrested for two misdemeanor warrants and a felony warrant.

A 15-year old juvenile that resides in El Rio was arrested for felony vandalism (tagging) with a special allegation that the crime was committed for the benefit of a criminal street gang.

At one of the search warrant locations, a two-year old sustained minor injuries. The child was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released.

In an effort to address the recent increase in firearms-related crimes, Oxnard Police launched the Operation Safer and Stronger Initiative, así como el equipo de ataque de armas de fuego (RÁPIDO) liderado por la Unidad de Crímenes Violentos, to proactively remove firearms from prohibited persons within the city. DETALLES: En enero 21, 2015, en aproximadamente 6:50 p.m., officers from the Oxnard Police Department were dispatched to a call of shots fired in the 200 bloque de la calle Balsam. A la llegada, officers were advised that a male shooting victim was transported by family members to St. John’s Hospital. The victim was then transported via ambulance to VCMC in critical condition. La víctima, identified as Luis Amaro, would subsequently be pronounced dead at VCMC as a result of an apparent gunshot wound.

Preliminary investigation indicates the victim was standing near or around his residence when he was confronted by an unknown suspect. Witnesses recall multiple gunshots being fired and a vehicle speeding away from the scene. The vehicle was described as an older model sedan possibly a dark colored Honda. As of this release, no suspect(s)have been identified and the motive remains unknown.

En 3/8/15 en aproximadamente 0130 horas, officers responded to a fight at a house party in the 900 block of Ontario Street. Cuando llegaron los agentes, they located the male victim laying in the front yard of the residence. The victim was transported to the Ventura County Medical Center in grave condition. After several medical tests, the victim’s condition was downgraded to critical but stable condition. The injuries are not considered to be life threatening.

Investigators from the Violent Crimes Unit responded to the scene to assist with the investigation. Durante la investigación, officers and investigators located a witness that provided valuable information to assist with the investigation. A suspect was located and identified. El martes, Mayo 5, 2015, entre las horas de 6:00 p.m. a 12:00 a.m., the Oxnard Police Department Traffic Unit will be conducting a multiple location DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoint at undisclosed locations within the city limits. We encourage people to celebrate this Cinco de Mayo holiday but want everyone drive safe and sober. Hasta aquí, over this Cinco de Mayo Weekend (Mayo 1 a mayo 4), officers from the Oxnard Police Department have arrested 15 Conductores de DUI.

Officers will be looking for signs of alcohol and/or drug impairment with officers checking driver’s for proper licensing delaying motorists only momentarily. Specially trained officers will be available at the checkpoint to evaluate those suspected of drug-impaired driving. Additional officers will be deployed throughout the city to conduct DUI enforcement.
