The residence was being fumigated at the time of the burglary and surveillance video was obtained. The Oxnard Police Department is seeking the public’s help identifying the subjects in the video. The Oxnard Police Department encourages residents to remove their valuables from their residence if they are having it tented and fumigated. En abril 17, 2016 en aproximadamente 1150 hours officers from the Special Enforcement Unit were working gang enforcement Rose Park area of the city. While in the area of Rose Avenue and Emerson Avenue a traffic stop was conducted for a vehicle code violation. The driver was Victor Aguiar. Aguiar was subsequently arrested for a vehicle code violation. During a search of his vehicle a loaded semi-automatic handgun was located. Aguiar was additionally arrested for several firearm related violations.

Aguiar is associated with a known criminal street gang.

A passenger in the vehicle was released at the scene.

(OXNARD, California) – On 5/29/16 en aproximadamente 1945 horas, Oxnard police officers responded to a fight in the area of Gonzales Road and Lantana Street. Officers arrived in the area and located an assault victim with severe stab wounds. The victim was transported to the Ventura County Medical Center by ambulance. Desafortunadamente, the victim died of his injuries.

Major Crimes Investigators were notified and responded to the scene to assume the investigation. La investigación continúa.

Aproximadamente 1100 horas, an Oxnard resident called the police department to report finding the stolen delivery vehicle possibly abandoned in the middle of the street in front of 1720 Jones Way.

When Officers from the Oxnard Police Department arrived, they found that the vehicle was still in the middle of the street, but an unknown subject (later identified as Jimmy Frederick) was inside the vehicle. Officers attempted to contact Frederick and direct him out of the vehicle, but Frederick refused to exit the vehicle. Frederick then barricaded himself in the rear storage/ hauling area of the covered delivery truck.

After Frederick barricaded himself inside the storage area, officers secured the scene and deployed a non-lethal Pepperball device; however Frederick refused to exit. Additional Officers from the Special Enforcement Unit (Gang Unit/ SWAT Team) and K-9 Unit arrived at the scene a short time later. After an additional forty-five minute stand-off, Frederick finally emerged from his barricaded position inside of the delivery truck. Frederick was refusing to follow surrender commands and officers used an electronic control device (“taser”) to subdue Frederick. Frederick was then taken into custody without further incident. Frederick was arrested for 10851(un) VC y 148(un) PC.

Officers responded to the area and located an occupied vehicle in the vicinity of the shots fired call. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle and the driver initially failed to yield. En abril 25, 2016, en alrededor 5:00 pm, Patrol Officers from the Oxnard Police Department responded to the 400 Block West Juniper Street, reference a family dispute. Officers arrived on scene and began investigating the family dispute and a complaint of a battery. The suspect was identified as resident Luis Gomez, 20 años de edad, who was inside the home.
Officers learned that earlier in the day, Gomez had brandished an axe at a female victim and had also previously battered another victim. This was unreported to police.
While officers were investigating the battery and family dispute, occupants of the residence fled out a bedroom window and reported that Gomez had charged at them with a large knife and attempted to assault them.
Officers surrounded the residence. Members of the Oxnard Police Department SWAT Team, Unidad K9, Hostage Negotiations Team, Equipo de Intervención de Crisis, and Investigators from the Oxnard Police Department Violent Crimes Unit responded to assist with the incident. A search warrant and arrest warrant were obtained for Gomez and the residence. After several hours Gomez was taken into custody using a police canine.
Gomez was transported to Ventura County Medical Center for treatment for injuries he sustained from the police canine during the arrest. Gomez will be booked at the Ventura County Main Jail for Battery and Assault with a Deadly Weapon (PC 245).
