En abril 16, 2016 en aproximadamente 10:50 p.m., officers attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation. The driver failed to stop and a brief pursuit ensued for approximately one minute. During the half-mile pursuit, the driver committed additional traffic violations before stopping the vehicle and fleeing on foot.
El controlador, Saul Guillen a 21-year-old Oxnard resident, was taken into custody near the intersection of Channel Islands Blvd and C Street. El vehículo, which was determined to be stolen, was released to the registered owner. Guillen was booked at the Ventura County Jail for the unlawful driving of a stolen vehicle, posesión de un vehículo robado, resisting arrest and a violation of parole.
El Theft Auto Departamento de Policía de Oxnard Grupo de Trabajo (OATTF), is asking for help from the community to reduce auto theft by never leaving keys in unattended vehicles. The OATTF was launched in early 2015 to proactively locate and arrest those responsible for committing auto thefts in Oxnard. The objective of the task force is to reduce the number of auto thefts through education, intervention, and enforcement.
