En febrero 18, 2017, en alrededor 11:50 p.m., an Oxnard police officer conducted a vehicle stop in the area of Juanita Avenue and Martin Luther Kind Drive for a traffic violation. During his investigation it was determined that both the driver and the passenger didn’t have a valid driver’s license. As the officer was conducting an inventory search of the vehicle, he located an illegally modified (sawed off) and loaded shotgun. El pasajero, Luis Alfaro, admitted to being the owner of the shotgun.

Alfaro was arrested and later booked into the Ventura County Jail for various weapon violations. The driver was issued a citation and released at the scene.

En febrero 18, 2017, en alrededor 5:40 p.m., officers from the Oxnard Police Department and EMS responded to a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a motorcycle. The collision occurred at the intersection of Saviers Road and Hughes Drive.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the Toyota Camry was making a left turn from southbound Saviers Road onto Hughes Drive. A red Honda motorcycle was traveling northbound on Saviers Road when the two vehicles collided.

It is unknown if alcohol and/or drugs were factors in the collision. La colisión es todavía bajo investigación.

DETALLES:

The City of Oxnard Police Department, Departamento de Bomberos, and Public Works are on-scene at the Victoria Estates Community in northern Oxnard due to significant street flooding. Pumps are currently being used to relieve the flooding. Residents of the community are advised to use caution when driving in the neighborhood.

En 2/18/17 en aproximadamente 0500 horas, Officers from the Oxnard Police Department and members from the Public Works Department responded to Ventura Road north of Stone Creek Drive reference flooding to the roadway.

The northbound lanes of Ventura Road from Stone Creek Drive to Wagon Wheel Road are currently closed, due to the heavy rainfall. Traffic will be effected in the surrounding area.

The Oxnard Police Department asks that motorists seek alternates routes when driving in the area. There is no estimated time for re-opening the road.

En febrero 17, 2017, en 2:00 PM, the Oxnard Violent Crimes Task Force, along with the Oxnard Special Enforcement Unit and K9 unit, contacted a wanted fugitive in the 4500 bloque de Olds carretera, Oxnard. The suspect identified as Raymond Suarez Jr, had several active felony warrants for his arrest including two (2) counts of attempted murder from the State of Oregon. Raymond Suarez Jr is an active member of a criminal street gang in Oxnard. He was booked into the Ventura County Jail.

En febrero 16, 2017, en aproximadamente 0952 horas, officers were dispatched to the area of Robert Ave. y N. A Street to investigate a possible attempted carjacking of a 67 años de edad, víctima.

When the victim was contacted, he confirmed that he was washing his car when he was confronted by two male juveniles. One of the juveniles was in possession of a knife and demanded the victim’s car keys. The victim refused to relinquish his keys and ran for help.

Officers from the Neighborhood Policing Team were in the area and responded to the call. They located the suspected juveniles in the 500 bloque de N. A la calle. The juveniles ran from the officers but were quickly apprehended. The victim identified the juveniles and a security video from a local business confirmed the victim’s story, sin embargo, the investigation is still ongoing. En enero 20, 2017, 7:00 al, The Oxnard Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) arrested a male juvenile responsible for committing a series of three (3) armed robberies in the 200 block of west Pleasant Valley Road, Oxnard. In each of these robberies the juvenile suspect brandished a firearm. During a search of the juvenile’s residence a replica firearm was found.

Oxnard’s Neighborhood Policing Team along with patrol officers assigned to the area where the robberies occurred collaborated with VCU investigators to positively identify the juvenile suspect.

The juvenile is currently in custody at the Ventura County Juvenile Justice Center awaiting his hearing.

Investigators continued working this case following the arrest delaying a timely press release.

En febrero 6, 2017, en alrededor 9:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to a missing juvenile last seen when his parents dropped him off at Bard Elementary School, situado en 622 Lo. Bard Rd, Port Hueneme, this morning. The parents became concerned when he didn’t return home.

Enhanced Traffic Enforcement nets 139 citas 4 arrests and 4 vehicles impounded

El jueves, Febrero 2, 2017, and Thursday, Febrero 9, 2017, officers from the Oxnard Police Department Traffic Unit and Neighborhood Police Team partnered with the California Highway Patrol in a coordinated effort to combat illegal street racing, conducción temeraria, and unsafe vehicles operating on the roadway.

After receiving complaints from citizens of large numbers of vehicles gathering and disturbing at different locations around the city, officers collaboratively worked together to address the issue. Four people were arrested for exhibition of speed, outstanding warrants and 1 person was arrested for narcotic violations. During the course of the enforcement, 4 vehicles were impounded.

En febrero 5, 2017, the Oxnard Police Traffic Unit conducted citywide enhanced traffic enforcement and DUI enforcement saturation patrol.

The Traffic Unit conducted enhanced enforcement between 1200 y 1700 horas. Durante este tiempo, officers conducted traffic enforcement stops and issued 85 citas. Two DUI drivers were arrested and one motorcyclist was arrested for exhibition of speed.

The Traffic Unit also conducted a DUI enforcement saturation from 1700 a 2200 horas. 30 citations were issued and two additional DUI drivers were arrested. A total of seven vehicles were towed during both operations.
