DETALLES:

En 5/31/18, en aproximadamente 2:15 a.m., Oxnard Police Department Officers were dispatched to the 3800 block of South G Street regarding a vehicle having just been stolen from a victim’s residence. Responding officers searched the surrounding neighborhood for the stolen vehicle. After a brief search, officers located the vehicle in the nearby area and a traffic stop was initiated. The driver and two juvenile passengers were removed from the vehicle without incident.

Violent Altercation Results in Oxnard Man’s Death

DETALLES:

The Oxnard Police Department is investigating a violent altercation between two men that resulted in the death of one of the men.

En mayo 30, 2018, en aproximadamente 6:30 a.m., Oxnard police officers responded to a person that was hit by a vehicle in the gas station parking lot, situado en 490 Sur Victoria Avenue. When the police officers arrived at the scene, they located a 24-year old Hispanic male lying in the driveway of the gas station. Next to the 24-year old male was a red colored sedan with significant front-end damage. Bystanders provided first-aid to the male as police officers and Emergency Medical Services (ccsme) arrived on-scene. The 24-year old was transported to the Ventura County Medical Center by ambulance. Desafortunadamente, the 24-year old succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

En la escena, police officers contacted a 31-year old Hispanic male who was identified as the driver of a black SUV, which was in the parking lot next to the crime scene. Police officers spoke to several eye-witnesses that provided detailed statements. Police officers also located a replica firearm in the vicinity of where the altercation occurred.

Detectives from the Oxnard Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) and the Major Crimes Unit responded to investigate the incident. Based on information obtained during the investigation, detectives believe a violent altercation occurred between the two males that resulted in the death of the 24-year old. The motive or cause of the altercation is still being investigated. Detectives believe all persons involved in the incident are accounted for and have been interviewed.

En mayo 30, 2018, en aproximadamente 7:10 a.m., Officers from the Oxnard Police Department responded to an injury traffic collision involving a pedestrian in the 500 bloque de East Channel Islands Blvd.. Officers arrived and located a 14-year-old male resident of Oxnard in the roadway suffering from serious injuries. The subject was transported to a nearby hospital and is listed in serious but stable condition.

Officers determined during their initial investigation that the pedestrian was attempting to cross Channel Islands Blvd. when he was struck by a 2009 Chevrolet Traverse that was traveling westbound. The driver of the Traverse, a 41-year-old female Oxnard resident, was uninjured and remained at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle was interviewed by officers and released. Officers do not believe alcohol or drugs to have been a factor in the collision. La investigación continúa.

En mayo 15, 2018, en 8:40 PM, Officers from the Oxnard Police Department responded to the area of Pleasant Valley and Terrace Avenue regarding a person shooting at a moving vehicle. The victim’s vehicle was struck one time, and the driver was not injured. The Oxnard Police Departments Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) continued work the investigation and ultimately identified Francisco Ramirez as the shooter. Hoy a las 2:30 PM, The Department’s Special Enforcement Unit located Ramirez in the 4000 block of Saviors Road. During a search of Ramirez, officers discovered he had a concealed 9mm handgun tucked in his waistband. Special Enforcement Unit officers and Violent Crimes Investigators subsequently served a Search Warrant at Ramirez’s residence. Ramirez was booked at the Ventura County Jail on four (4) felony gun related charges.

En mayo 28, 2018, en aproximadamente 3:15 a.m., officers from the Oxnard Police Department attempted to contact a suspicious subject in the area of Robert Ave and Oxnard Blvd in the City of Oxnard. The subject fled on foot and was captured after a foot chase. El sujeto fue identificado como 21 year old Oxnard resident Ismael Romero. Romero was found to be in possession of live ammunition. K9 Officer Moses Martinez and K9 “Leo” responded and assisted with searching the area for property discarded by Romero during the foot chase. “Leo” located a loaded handgun in the area. Officers were able to tie the discarded handgun to Romero. Romero was arrested for various felony firearms charges.

En mayo 28, 2018, en aproximadamente 2:00 a.m., officers from the Oxnard Police Department were conducting directed enforcement in the area of the 200 block of Cuesta Del Mar Dr in Oxnard. En 5/25/2018 en aproximadamente 8:00 pm, an Oxnard Police Department officer was patrolling the area of Edison Drive and McWane Blvd. when he heard several shots fired and observed a vehicle leaving the area. The officer stopped the vehicle. El controlador, Jose Fonseca, immediately admitted to possessing a firearm. A search revealed a semi-automatic handgun and live ammunition. Subsequent investigation revealed that the firearm was stolen out of Ventura, California.

Fonseca was arrested and booked into Ventura County Jail for possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle, possession of a stolen firearm and negligent discharge of a firearm.

El jueves, Mayo 24, 2018, en aproximadamente 4:00 a.m., officers from the Oxnard Police Department responded to a traffic collision in the 1600 block of North Rose Ave. Officers located a green 1998 Dodge Ram pickup truck in the center divider across from St. Johns Medical Center. Officers determined that the vehicle had been traveling southbound on Rose Ave. at a high rate of speed. For reasons that are unknown, the vehicle left the roadway and struck a palm tree in the center divider.

El conductor del vehículo, a 30-year-old male Oxnard resident, was pronounced dead at the scene. A 2-year-old male child was located in the front passenger’s seat secured in a child-seat. Oxnard Fire Department and Gold Coast Ambulance personnel immediately tended to the child. The child was transported to the Ventura County Medical Center. por suerte, it was determined that the child only suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision.

The names of the victim and child are being withheld pending notification to family.

All southbound traffic on Rose Ave. was closed from Gonzales Rd. for several hours while Oxnard Police Department Traffic Officers conducted their investigation. The roadway has since been reopened.

DETALLES: En mayo 20, 2018, en aproximadamente 3:51 a.m., Oxnard police officers responded to an assault victim in the 1000 cuadra de East Bard Road. Major Crimes detectives responded to the scene and interviewed the occupants of the vehicle. Detectives also interviewed a person that witnessed the assault. The male adult was released pending further investigation by detectives.
