From October 2017 hasta enero 2018, the Oxnard Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) in conjunction with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office of Special Crimes Unit conducted an investigation of an Oxnard criminal street gang responsible for several shootings in Oxnard. La Unidad de Cumplimiento Especial de Oxnard (SU) and the departments K-9 Unit participated in serving four of the eleven local search warrants. The remainder of the seven search warrants were served in Los Angeles County: Los Ángeles (3), Ontario (1), Rancho Cucamonga (1), Palmdale (1), and one in Port Hueneme. These search warrants led to the seizure of 10 armas de fuego, including a Tec-9 and an assault rifle; 88 libras de marihuana; 54 gramos de cocaína; 7 gramos de metanfetamina; 245 grams of Mexican brown heroin; $62,432; one vehicle; and several arrests.

Arrestos / Charges:

Joseph Barron, Jose Tamayo, Jose Geronimo, and Jonathon Reyes (who are all convicted felons) were charged with conspiracy to commit an assault with a deadly weapon for the benefit of a criminal street gang and illegal transfer of a firearm.

Joseph Barron and Eduardo Luna (both convicted felons) were charged with conspiracy, possession for sales of a controlled substance, transportation for sales of a controlled substance, and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

Darius Flewellen and Eduardo Luna (both convicted felons) were charged with conspiracy to transport for sales of a controlled substance.

DETALLES: En enero 24, 2018 en 7:00 pm, Oxnard police officers responded to a robbery with a firearm in the 4000 blk of Tradewinds Drive. Officers located the victim and learned the subject fled prior to their arrival. The subject took several items of the victim’s property and was last seen leaving the area in an unknown type vehicle.

En enero 20, 2018, en aproximadamente 5:15 p.m., officers from the Oxnard Police Department Special Enforcement Unit conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Oxnard Boulevard and Gonzales Road.

Officers contacted the driver of the vehicle who was identified as Carlos Torres. Officers determined Torres to be under the influence of a controlled substance and he was arrested. Durante el registro de su vehículo, officers located a loaded 9mm handgun within arm’s reach of a four year old child in the back seat. The gun was later found to be stolen from a burglary in Oxnard in 2009. Officers additionally found narcotics in the vehicle belonging to the suspect.

Suspect Torres was arrested on four felony charges and four misdemeanor charges ranging from child endangerment, posesión de propiedad robada, under the influence with a firearm and being in possession of a concealed loaded firearm in a vehicle.

It is with great sadness that the Oxnard Police Department announces the sudden passing of one of its police service dogs, K9 Jax.

El miércoles, Enero 17, 2018, Jax began showing symptoms of an illness during regularly scheduled training. Jax was taken to a local veterinary hospital, and following a series of procedures, it was discovered that the 5 ½ year-old Belgian Malinois had a large, inoperable tumor near his heart and lungs. The tumor was bleeding, further compounding his condition, and impeding his lung function. Surrounded by his partner/handling officer, familia, and friends, Jax succumbed to his illness.

“With Jax’s passing, we have lost a beloved family member of the Oxnard Police Department” said Assistant Police Chief Jason Benites. “Our K9 officers are tightly bonded with their canine partners, who work tirelessly to help protect our community. Jax will be missed by many. Please keep Jax, his handler, and their family in your thoughts during this difficult time.”

Jax began his service with the Oxnard Police Department in 2013. He was known as a driven and determined award-winning K9. Jax’s most recent public appearance was in the 2018 Tournament of Roses Parade on the Lucy Pet Foundation float. More information about Jax can be found on Instagram under oxnardpolicek9.

En enero 14, 2018, en alrededor 12:40 A.m., officers from the Special Enforcement Unit conducted a traffic stop in the area of Palm Drive and C Street. El conductor del vehículo, David Gonzales was found to be under the influence of a controlled substance and arrested. Durante una búsqueda del vehículo, agentes localizaron un robados .357 caliber revolver as well as narcotics and paraphernalia indicative of drug sales. Gonzales is a documented gang member.

Gonzales was arrested and later booked into the Ventura County Jail for possessing a stolen firearm while under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance for sales.

DETALLES: (Oxnard, California) – An Oxnard man was found in possession of a sawed-off shotgun after fleeing from officers.

El miércoles, 10/15/17 en 7:19 p.m. Oxnard police officers stopped a white BMW for multiple traffic violations at the intersection of Rose Avenue and Santa Lucia Avenue, and the right front passenger fled from the car.

Officers ran after the suspect and the foot chase ended in the backyard of a house on Eliza Court. El sospechoso, 19 year-old Cesar Guerrero was in possession of a sawed-off shotgun. He had shotgun shells in his pants’ pocket and had discarded black gloves.

Guerrero had felony arrest warrants and was arrested on charges that included a felon in possession of a firearm and resisting/obstructing police.

An Oxnard Police traffic officer recovered a stolen vehicle near the 101 Freeway and Vineyard Avenue exit in Oxnard and made an arrest.

El jueves, 6/29/17, just before 9 a.m., police spotted the stolen white Mitsubishi Mirage going north on the freeway. The car was driven by a juvenile with other juvenile passengers. Police followed the vehicle and the driver disobeyed traffic laws.

Oxnard Police took a juvenile into custody for being in possession of the stolen vehicle.
