On March 25, 2025, at approximately 7:15 p.m., officers from the Oxnard Police Department and EMS personnel responded to the area of Rice Avenue and Fifth Street regarding a traffic collision involving a Metrolink Train and a tractor trailer.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that a Metrolink train carrying 13 passengers struck the trailer of a tractor trailer as the train crossed Rice Avenue at Fifth Street. The tractor trailer had been stopped on southbound Rice Avenue and the train was travelling westbound. The debris from the collision struck an adult female who was at a nearby food vendor. This female was transported to a local hospital with a head injury and was last listed in critical but stable condition. Two passengers on the train complained of pain. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured. Alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the collision.
Traffic investigators responded to the scene and assisted with the investigation. The investigation is ongoing.
