During the month of October 2022, the Oxnard Police Department Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) began an investigation regarding Eddie Gomez being involved in the sale of Methamphetamine. During the investigation, DEU detectives developed enough evidence to obtain a search warrant.

On November 4^th, 2022 with the assistance of the Oxnard Special Enforcement Unit (SEU), DEU detectives located Gomez while he was driving in his vehicle. SEU Officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop and detained Gomez pursuant the search warrant. During a search of the vehicle, SEU Officers located a large quantity of Methamphetamine, US Currency, and evidence of narcotics sales.

Gomez was charged with possession of Methamphetamine for sale and transportation of Methamphetamine, both Felonies. He was booked into the Ventura County Main Jail.

SUBJECT: Suspect Wanted by U.S. Marshalls Office Arrested After Committing a Shooting on Saviers Rd.

SUSPECTS: Joey Ixta, 30-year-old Oxnard resident

LOCATION: 100 block McKinley Ave., Oxnard

On November 4th, at approximately 11:29 a.m., officers responded to the 3500 blk. of Saviers Rd. in regards to a shooting that had just occurred. Witnesses reported seeing a white sport utility vehicle pull in behind another occupied vehicle. The driver, later identified as suspect Ixta, exited the sport utility vehicle and fired several rounds from a handgun at the occupied vehicle. The occupants in the victim vehicle fled the area and Ixta fled the area as well. Investigators from the Violent Crimes Unit responded to the scene and took over the investigation.

Investigators conducted follow up and located the vehicle in the 100 blk. of South McKinley Ave. At approximately 2:30 p.m. Ixta was observed entering the vehicle and driving away northbound. Officers observed Ixta park in the 100 blk. of North Bonita Ave. and attempted to make contact with him. As officers exited their vehicle, Ixta quickly accelerated from the curb and a short pursuit ensued. As Ixta drove north in the west alley of the 100 blk. of South McKinley, his vehicle collided with another police vehicle causing minor damage. Ixta attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended after a taser deployment.

Ixta was treated for his injuries and booked for assault with a deadly weapon (for the shooting on Saviers Rd.), felony reckless evading, and for resisting arrest. Ixta was also arrested for an outstanding warrant from the U.S. Marshall’s Office. Ixta is a documented Oxnard criminal street gang member.

SUBJECT: Fatal Traffic Collision Involving a Vehicle and Motorcycle

LOCATION: Oxnard Boulevard, north of Wooley Road, Oxnard

On October 29, 2022, at approximately 10:12 PM, officers from the Oxnard Police Department and E.M.S. personnel responded to a call for service for an injury traffic collision in the southbound lanes of Oxnard Boulevard, north of Wooley Road.

The initial investigation determined that a 2004 Honda motorcycle, driven by 49-year-old Richard Rojas, was traveling southbound on Oxnard Boulevard towards Wooley Road. For unknown reasons, Rojas rear-ended a sedan stopped for traffic in the southbound lanes of Oxnard Boulevard.

Rojas was transported to the Ventura County Medical Center with severe injuries and later succumbed to those injuries on November 1, 2022. The driver of the sedan remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Investigators are still determining the cause of the collision and whether speed or impairment were a factor.

SUBJECT: Fatal Traffic Collision Involving a Semi-truck and Pedestrian

LOCATION: Camino Del Sol and Kinetic Dr, Oxnard

On November 3, 2022, at approximately 2:00 a.m., officers from the Oxnard Police Department responded to a call for service for an injury traffic collision at the intersection of Camino Del Sol and Kinetic Drive.

Upon arrival, officers located Maria Robles unresponsive in the roadway. Witnesses to the collision directed officers to the semi-truck that hit Robles, which was parked at a nearby Fed-Ex facility. The driver of the semi-truck, identified as Rickey Amaya, admitted to being involved in the collision and cooperated with investigators on scene.

The preliminary investigation revealed Amaya was traveling westbound on Camino Del Sol approaching Kinetic Drive. Robles was walking westbound in the north crosswalk of Camino Del Sol at the Kinetic Drive intersection. As Amaya turned onto Kinetic Drive, he collided into Robles in the roadway. Robles was pronounced deceased by EMS personnel.

SUBJECT: Juvenile Arrested for Firearm Possession

SUSPECTS: 17 year old male juvenile

LOCATION: Lemonwood Park, 2055 San Mateo Place, Oxnard

On the above date and time, officers from the Oxnard Police Department responded to Lemonwood Park reference multiple persons disturbing at the park. The reporting party stated they were associated with a gray 4 door sedan. Once on scene, officers made contact with five people inside the vehicle.

One subject, a 17-year-old juvenile, was on probation for firearm possession. During a search of the vehicle, officers located a revolver. After an investigation, officers arrested the 17 year old male juvenile for firearm-related charges, as well as a probation violation.

SUBJECT: Post Release Offender Arrested for Possession of a Firearm

On October 27th, at approximately 5:46 p.m., officers from the Oxnard Special Enforcement Unit (Gang Unit) conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 100 blk. of West 7th St. Officers contacted the driver Garcia and a records check was conducted. Garcia was found to be on Post Release Offender Supervision, PROS, for being a felon in possession of a firearm and narcotics.

The Post Release Offender Program, created by Assembly Bill 109 – the 2011 Public Safety Realignment – mandates that individuals sentenced to non-violent, non-serious (irrespective of priors) or non-sex offenses will serve their sentences in county jails instead of state prison. The public should be aware that release under AB 109 is based on the offender’s most recent committing offense. Prior convictions are not considered.

Officers conducted a search of Garcia’s vehicle in accordance with his probation search terms. During the search, a loaded .38 special revolver was located. A records check of the firearm later showed the gun was not registered to Garcia. Garcia was arrested for various firearm charges and a violation of PROS probation.

SUBJECT: Oxnard Man Arrested for Selling Drugs near an Elementary School

During the month of October 2022, the Oxnard Police Department Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) and the South District Neighborhood Policing Team (NPT) began an investigation regarding Jorge Flores continuing to sell drugs near an elementary school in the Cal-Gisler neighborhood. Flores had been arrested on three prior occasions for selling drugs. During the investigation, detectives confirmed that Flores was still actively selling drugs.

On October 27, 2022 Oxnard South District NPT Officers, Property Crimes Detectives (PCU), and DEU detectives located Flores while he was driving in his vehicle. Patrol Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and found Flores in possession of methamphetamine and further evidence of drug Sales. The passenger, Ciara Magallon, was found to have an outstanding felony warrant for drug sales.

With the assistance of the Oxnard Special Enforcement Unit (SEU), detectives conducted a search of Flores’ residence. Detectives located more methamphetamine and further evidence of drug sales.

Magallon was arrested for her felony warrant. Flores was charged with possession for sales of methamphetamine within a thousand feet of a school and being a felon in possession of ammunition, both felonies. This is Flores’ fourth drug sales arrest since January 2021.

The Oxnard Police Department has made an arrest in a 2017 homicide case. Detectives with the Oxnard Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit arrested Jacob Stier, a 25-year-old Oxnard resident, in connection with the murder of Alexis Lopez and the attempted murder of Omar Pacifuentes.

On October 8, 2017, at approximately 9:45 P.M., Alexis Lopez was seated in the driver seat of her pickup truck, and Omar Pacifuentes was seated next to Lopez in the front passenger seat. They were stopped for a signal light at the intersection of Ventura Boulevard at Santa Clara Avenue in Oxnard. Lopez was shot and killed as she sat in her truck. Pacifuentes was also shot but survived his injuries. Lopez was a mother and left behind two small children.

After several years of diligent and exhaustive investigating, detectives were able to locate sufficient evidence to arrest Stier for his participation in the homicide. This investigation is still ongoing, with additional arrests pending in this case.

Jacob Stier was in custody at the Ventura County Main Jail facility on unrelated charges when he was arrested for the murder of Lopez and the attempted murder of Pacifuentes. Stier’s bail is set at $1,010,000 dollars.

On October 22, 2022, at about 10:15 P.M., Officers from the Oxnard Police Department responded to the call of a shooting victim in the 300 block of Cuesta Del Mar Drive. When officers arrived, they located a 36-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency Medical Services quickly arrived and began life-saving measures. Unfortunately, the man succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene. The man has been identified as Ronald Charles Apodaca Jr., a 36-year-old Oxnard Resident.

The Oxnard Police Department Major Crimes Unit responded to the scene and took over the investigation. This is the seventh homicide in the City of Oxnard this year.
