DETAILS:
On 1/17/10, at about 1745 hours, the victim parks his vehicle in the 300 block of Canterbury Way. A male and female approached the victim’s vehicle. The two suspects open the car doors and the male suspect pointed a chrome handgun at the victim. Both suspects yelled at the victim to get out of the vehicle. The victim struggles with the male over the gun. During the struggle, the gun falls apart and the victim holds onto the slide.
Officers, from the Oxnard Police Department, locate the victim’s vehicle and both suspects were taken into custody without incident.
Maria Martinez and Emmanuel Vasquez were identified as the suspects from the carjacking. They were found to be in possession of methamphetamine and cocaine. Martinez was found to be in possession of a loaded handgun with the slide missing. The slide that the victim provided to officers matched the handgun found in Martinez’s purse.
