On November 21, 2010 the Oxnard Police Department received a report of burglary that occurred to a laundry facility furnished with coin operated washing machines. The laundry facility is located on the 1300 Block of Edgewood Way.
The suspect, an unknown male was captured on video surveillance using an unknown tool to gain access to the coin reservoir on a washing machine.
The operator of this particular laundry room, Webb Laundry Services has taken measures to better secure their facilities and has started to add surveillance cameras to some of their facilities.
Investigators are requesting that property owners or those responsible for coin operated laundry machines take extra measures to secure their facilities. Investigators suggest that money from the machines be removed daily, laundry rooms should be locked and accessed by tenants only, set up surveillance cameras and consider installing new technologies such as cashless systems that use prepaid cards.
Investigators are seeking information from the public in trying to identify the suspect that was captured on video surveillance. Anyone with information is urged to call the Oxnard Police Department Property Crimes Bureau at 385-7605 or Detective Luis Mancha at 385-7664.
