SUSPECT | Hispanic male, 25-26, wearing a black beanie, black or blue sweatshirt with white print on the left side, a plaid Dickies-style button-up shirt, and gray pants or jeans. He spoke English and Spanish and appeared to be ill – witnesses reported that the suspect coughed repeatedly. |

(Oxnard, CA) On April 6, 2012 at about 10 p.m. Oxnard police officers responded to the Walmart store located at 2001 N. Rose Avenue regarding an attempted robbery that had just occurred. The suspect was a Hispanic male, 25-26, wearing a black beanie, black or blue sweatshirt with white print on the left side, a plaid Dickies-style button-up shirt, and gray pants or jeans. He spoke English and Spanish and appeared to be ill – witnesses reported that the suspect coughed repeatedly. He approached a clerk at the customer service desk inside the business and demanded money and mentioned having a weapon, but no weapon was seen.
The suspect was not successful in getting cash from the clerk and fled the area on foot toward Gonzales Road. Officers checked the area for the suspect but were not able to locate him. No one was hurt during the attempted robbery.
