On 10/03/12 at approximately 2314 hours Oxnard police officers responded to the 300 block of North I Street reference a father/son dispute. It was found the son, Meza, also had a misdemeanor warrant for his arrest.
 
Upon officers arrival, suspect Meza fled into a bedroom inside his parent’s residence and refused to come out. Hostage negotiation officers spoke with Meza for over an hour attempting to get him to come out from the locked room. Meza refused and made several threats to harm officers on scene.
 
After less lethal devices such as the “pepperball” were deployed, Meza was taken into custody. Meza was charged with 422 P.C., criminal threats, 69 P.C., resisting a peace officer with threats, force or violence and a misdemeanor warrant.

On 10/02/12 at approximately 0214 hours, Oxnard police officers were dispatched to a call of a vehicle burglary in progress in the area of the 1200 block of Gracia Dr.  When officers arrived, they observed a subject later identified as Oxnard resident, Jeremy Daniel Arevalo, 24 years, looking through property inside of a vehicle that did not belong to him.
 
During the investigation, several items in Arevalo’s possession were identified by victims in the area as being stolen from their vehicles. Due to the large amount of property found in Arevalo’s possession it is believed that there are multiple victims that have not yet been identified at this time.
 
The Oxnard Police Department would also urge citizens to remove valuable items from their vehicles and make certain to close and lock all doors and windows prior to leaving vehicles parked.

On 9/29/12 at approximately 2214 hours, Oxnard police officers were dispatched to possible shots being fired in the area of the 300 block of Cuesta Del Mar Street. When officers arrived they located two adult males in the south alley of Cuesta Del Mar suffering from a gunshot wounds. The subjects were pronounced dead by emergency responders. Another gunshot victim was located nearby and was transported to the hospital for treatment of minor wounds.

Investigators are attempting to identify the victims and are still investigating several leads and motives at this time. This is the sixth homicide this year in the city. 

The City of Oxnard offers a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of suspect(s) in homicide cases.

DETAILS: On the above date and time officers responded to St. Johns Hospital regarding a stabbing victim who had arrived at the emergency room. The victim told officers that he and his wife were backing their vehicle out of a parking space in the parking lot when they were confronted by two suspects. The victim exited his vehicle and a fight ensued. During the fight the victim noticed that he had been stabbed. The suspects fled the area on foot and the victim’s wife drove him to the hospital.

 The victim was treated for minor to moderate stab wounds and his wounds are not life threatening.

On 09/24/12 at approximately 1230 hours Oxnard police officers responded to the 1000 block Azalea Street reference a residential burglary in progress.
 
The victim arrived home and saw the suspect inside her residence. The victim called the police and the suspect fled. While on the phone with the police, the victim saw a second suspect inside her residence. Suspect two fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival.

Property taken was jewelry and an undisclosed amount of money.

Suspect one was described as a black male, 30’s, black hair, a pronounced scar on the left side of his face, wearing a black T-shirt, and plaid shorts. A composite sketch of suspect one has been attached.

On 09-24-12 at approximately 1715 hours Officers from the Oxnard Police Department responded to a call of a burglary in progress in the 1600 block of Evangeline Place. The suspect was described as a black male who was seen running through the neighborhood. As officers arrived in the area, there were reports from citizens that a subject matching that description was attempting entry into a second residence in the area. The suspect confronted the resident and took the phone away, preventing the resident from calling the police. The suspect fled the residence as officers were searching the area. Officers chased the suspect through several backyards in the neighborhood. Officers apprehended suspect Mack in the 1600 block of Patricia Street.    
 
During the investigation it was found that the suspect, who was identified as Christopher Mack, had made entry into two residences while evading police. During the course of those entries Mack threatened, battered and prevented witnesses from calling police. Mack was arrested and booked into the Ventura County Jail on several charges including witness intimidation, criminal threats, burglary and also a previous criminal threats charge for which he was wanted out of the City Of Oxnard.

On 9-22-12 at 2200 hours, Oxnard police officers and Oxnard Fire Department personnel responded to the 3800 Block of Saviers Road reference a reported single vehicle collision into a structure. Both the vehicle and structure were reported to be on fire.
 
Officers and firefighters learned a stolen vehicle had been parked in the West alley of the 3800 Block of Saviers Road and set on fire. At some point an electrical box attached to a nearby building caught fire ultimately causing a charged power line to fall to the ground. Officers and firefighters checked for victims and persons with injuries with negative results. Originally, evacuations were reported, but this was not the case. Damage to the structure is estimated to be $20,000

DETAILS: On 9-21-12 at 1759 hours, Oxnard police officers responded to the 700 block of Ivywood Drive reference a stabbing. The victim had been in an altercation with an unidentified male in the backyard of a residence. The victim was pepper-sprayed and stabbed by two other unidentified male subjects. All suspects fled on foot prior to police arrival.
 
The victim was transported to Ventura County Medical Center and is listed in stable condition.

DETAILS:
On 9-20-12, at about 2156 hours, an Oxnard police officer was conducting an investigative traffic stop in the 700 block of Arcturas Avenue when he heard an explosion nearby. This officer and others responded to storage units in the area and located several units with damage. Oxnard Fire Department personnel were requested responding to the location.
 
A small number of people in the immediate area were evacuated as a precaution while fire personnel put a small fire out and ensured there were no safety issues. During the Oxnard Fire Department operations and police investigation, a substantial legal marijuana cultivation system was located. Oxnard Code Compliance personnel responded to investigate suspected code violations in other units.
 
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Several persons sustained very minor fire related injuries. None were hospitalized. No arrests were made.

DETAILS:
On September 20, 2012, at about 7:41 p.m., Oxnard PD officers responded to the 500 block of South K Street after receiving a call of an injury traffic collision. Once on scene, officers and EMS personnel found a 12 year old male (name withheld) lying in the roadway. Witnesses advised that the juvenile had fallen or jumped from a silver Honda Pilot. The male was transported to Ventura County Medical Center with serious injuries.

 
Preliminary investigation indicates that the Honda Pilot, driven by Angel Rosette Jr., was traveling northbound in the 500 block of K Street at a slow speed. The 12-year old male juvenile was seated in the rear set of the Honda Pilot. For unknown reasons, the juvenile began to exit the vehicle through the right rear window. The juvenile subsequently fell out of the window. At this time it is undetermined if the juvenile jumped from the moving vehicle or fell out.
 
The juvenile is listed in serious but stable condition.
