DETAILS:

Between 8/16/12 and 8/18/12, a Hispanic male, approximately 20-25 years old, was involved in several jewelry store robberies in the city Oxnard.  The suspect fled the businesses and was seen getting into a light blue or silver colored 1990’s model Nissan Maxima. The suspect took an undisclosed amount of property in each of the robberies. Investigators were able to obtain video surveillance of the suspect and the vehicle.

On 8/25/12, at about 0251 hours, Officers from the Oxnard Police Department were dispatched to the 1300 block of Fremont Way reference suspicious subjects possible involved in auto burglaries in the area. Officers arrived and contacted three subjects who were in a parked vehicle in the alley. One of the subjects, Arturo Fuentes, was found to be in possession of property that was taken in an earlier auto burglary in the same area. Fuentes was arrested for auto burglary and under the influence of a
controlled substance. A second subject from the vehicle was also arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance.

On 8/26/12 at approximately 0224 hours, Oxnard police officers were dispatched to a fight with possible shots being fired in the area of Hemlock Street and “J” Street. When officers arrived they located an adult male lying in the street suffering from a gunshot wound. The subject was pronounced dead by emergency responders.
Investigators are attempting to identify the victim and are still investigating several leads and motives at this time. This is the fifth homicide this year in the city. 
The City of Oxnard offers a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of suspect(s) in homicide cases.

DETAILS:
On 8/24/12 at approximately 1350 hours, Oxnard police officers were dispatched to an auto burglary that just occurred at the intersection of Hemlock Street at Patterson Road. The suspects entered a locked vehicle and removed property. A witness to the burglary followed the suspects until the police officers arrived.
 
The police officers detained the two juveniles. The juveniles were later positively identified by the witness as the burglars. The property stolen by the burglars was recovered a short distance away.

DETAILS:
On Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at 7:05 p.m., Oxnard Police officers observed a vehicle in the area of Pleasant Valley Road and “C” Street, in Oxnard, that had been reported stolen on August 6, 2012 from Santa Barbara.  The vehicle failed to stop for the officer and a brief pursuit began, which covered approximately one mile.  The vehicle yielded in the 400 block of West Yucca Street, where the suspect exited the vehicle and fled through several backyards.  Additional responding officers were able to locate the suspect hiding in a backyard approximately 2 blocks away, in the 400 block of Vine Street.
 
Suspect Davis Searles was booked into the Ventura County Jail for the felony charges of possessing a stolen vehicle and possession of a controlled substance, as well as evading officers. 
Suspect Searles was on the Post Release Offender (PRO) program. The PRO Program released non-violent, non-sexual and non-serious offenders from prison pursuant to Assembly Bill 109.
 
A large percentage of stolen vehicles occur as a result of vehicles left unattended with the engine running. Drivers are reminded to safeguard their keys, not leave their keys in the ignition, or their vehicles unattended while the engine is running.

DETAILS:
On Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at 12:36 a.m., Oxnard Police attempted to stop a suspicious vehicle at the intersection of Kamala Street and “E” Street.  The driver, Suspect Rodriguez, failed to stop, resulting in a short pursuit covering less than one mile.  Rodriguez collided with a block wall in the 1500 block of South “J” Street, after failing to negotiate a turn.  The above described suspect vehicle was reported stolen the previous day from the 500 block of Hobson Way in Oxnard. 
 
Suspect Rodriguez was medically treated then booked into Ventura County Jail for the felony charges of stolen vehicle and recklessly evading police.

On August 21, 2012, at approximately 2 a.m., Oxnard PD received a call of a garage burglary in progress in the 5200 block of Longfellow Way. When officers arrived they contacted Alejandro Romero exiting an open garage.  Officers located bolt cutters and pad locks that had been removed from garages in the area. He was arrested for burglary and possession of burglary tools.

DETAILS:
On 8-18-12, at 1350 hours, a male, 20 to 25 years, 5-7, short black hair, tattoos entered Ideal Furniture, located in the 100 block of East 5^thStreet. This subject asked an employee if he (the subject) could look at a gold metal necklace valued at $3,400 (victim’s estimate). As the employee held the necklace, the subject grabbed the necklace. A struggle ensued with the suspect ultimately taking the necklace and fleeing on foot.
 
Store employees gave chase but were unable to apprehend the suspect. Employees returned and notified the Oxnard PD. Officers responded and contacted the employees. A search for the suspect was unsuccessful.
 
An investigation is continuing.

On 08/14/12 at 6:00 a.m. missing adult Harold Rakowiecki was located by Ventura County Sheriff Deputies near the intersection of Ventura Blvd. at Las Posas Rd., in the City of Camarillo.  Mr. Rakowiecki was found to be in good health and was reunited with local family members.

DETAILS:
On 08/12/2012 at 2:00 p.m. Harold Rakowiecki was home and spoke to family by phone. On 08/13/2012 at 9:25 a.m., Rakowiecki’s family called the Oxnard Police Department to report him missing.  Rakowiecki is known to walk to area beaches, the Oxnard Transportation Center, and the Camarillo Airport.
 
Mr. Rakowiecki is described as a white male adult, 6’ tall, 190 lbs., brown hair, blue eyes, with a tattoo of a skull on one of his forearms.  He was last seen wearing an unknown color shirt, gray shorts with stripes on the sides, and sandals.
