DETAILS:
On April 11, 2014, at about 1705 hours, officers from the Oxnard Police Department responded to 2815 Saviers Road reference a call of an armed robbery which had just occurred. An unknown race male subject wearing a black ski mask, black sweater, and blue jeans entered the Fiesta Insurance business located at 2825 Saviers Road in the city of Oxnard. The suspect pointed a silver-colored handgun and demanded property from the business. The suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of property and fled southbound from the business on foot. The suspect was possibly seen entering a green unknown make automobile on the south side of Channel Islands Blvd.

On 3/28/14 at approximately 2219 hours, Officers responded to a shooting victim in the area of Courtland Street and Clara Street. Officers located a 15 year old Hispanic male with a gunshot wound to his back. The victim was rushed to the Ventura County Medical Center and is listed in serious condition but stable.

On the above date/time, officers from the Oxnard Police Department responded to the 2300 Block of Lassen Street regarding a call of shots fired, and a fight. Once on scene, officers located a victim of a shooting inside of a residence. The victim’s injuries were not life-threatening.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic male adult, tall, ‘stocky’ building, wearing a black jacket and black pants. There was no further description of the suspect.

(OXNARD, Calif) On Monday, February 10, 2014, at approximately 10:35 p.m., Oxnard Police investigators with the Family Protection Unit arrested Mario Alberto Rocio, 29 years of age of Anaheim on felony child sexual abuse charges. Rocio had engaged in acts of sexual abuse with a child from Oxnard who was under the age of 10.

Rocio is currently being held at Ventura County Jail. His bail was set at $1 million dollars.

DETAILS:

On 12/20/13, detectives from the Oxnard Police Department’s Narcotic and Vice unit conducted massage parlor compliance examinations throughout the City of Oxnard. This was done with the assistance of the Ventura County District Attorney’s office. Police had received multiple complaints about these specific locations. The complaints referred to the solicitation of sex and employees of the massage parlors possibly being under 18 years of age.

The detectives responded to the above listed locations in Oxnard. Through today’s operation, three adults were arrested for Penal Code section 647(b) – Solicitation. If convicted, each person faces up to thirty days in jail, 3 years probation, and a fine.

The Oxnard Police Department takes complaints about this activity seriously and encourages those with information to contact detectives. The Department will conduct more enforcement details like these in the near future to ensure the businesses are operating in compliance with the law. On November 22, 2013, between the hours of 7:00 P.M. and 1:00 A.M., officers from the Oxnard Police Department conducted a DUI/Driver’s license checkpoint in the northbound lanes of Oxnard Blvd. north of Second Street.

Officers screened 789 motorists who passed through the checkpoint and conducted four DUI investigations on drivers who had been drinking alcohol and/or using drugs while driving. Of those investigations, one driver was arrested for driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, and one driver was arrested for driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and drugs and for being in possession of illegal drugs.

Citations were issued to seven drivers for various vehicle code violations. Eight drivers were issued citations for driving without a valid driver’s license, and three vehicles were towed from the checkpoint.

The Oxnard Police Department will continue to conduct DUI enforcement operations this year. These DUI operations are an effort to reduce the number of alcohol related crashes and to make our roadways and community safer. We also remind people that if they see an impaired driver to dial 911. These DUI enforcement operations are funded by grants from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) and through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

On November 17, 2013 at approximately 0625 hours, Oxnard Police responded to the 1700 Block of South Oxnard Boulevard in reference to the sexual assault of a female adult. The victim was transported to a near-by hospital where she was treated for minor injuries she sustained during the assault.

On November 17, 2013 at approximately 1830 hours, the suspect was arrested by detectives from the Sexual Assault and Family Protection Unit for the above violations.

The Oxnard Police/Fire Communications Center is hosting a fundraiser for Operation Blankets of Love on February 20th from 10am-2pm. The fundraiser is being held in the parking lot to the rear of the Oxnard Fire Administration Building at 360 W 2nd St in Oxnard. Operation Blankets of Love is a non-profit organization that provides blankets, towels, toys and other necessities for dogs and cats in pet shelters throughout Southern California.

The fundraiser will be collecting new or used blankets, towels and toys for homeless pets. Everyone who makes a donation will receive a voucher for a free rabies vaccination from Oxnard Animal Control. There will also be pets available for adoption, representatives from pet rescue groups in the area, a bake sale and a dog costume contest. Both the Oxnard Police and Fire Departments will be hosting events including a fire exhibition, K9 demonstration and motor officers. Radio station Q104.7 will also be there from 12pm-2pm. (Oxnard, CA) On May 9, 2012 at about 8:30 p.m. Oxnard PD officers were dispatched to the Thrifty Gas located at 1501 W. Gonzales Road regarding a robbery. The gas station attendant said that he was approached by a Hispanic male, 30 – 35 years old wearing a blue bandana, black hooded sweatshirt and jeans. The suspect was armed with a handgun which he used to threaten the employee and demand money.

The suspect fled north on Ventura Road; no suspect vehicle was seen. No one was injured in this incident.
