Since yesterday morning, Oxnard Police Department Investigators from the Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) and the Major Crimes Unit have been investigating an incident that left a 35-year old female with a gunshot wound to her leg and a 35-year old male with multiple gunshot wounds. The male victim had been receiving critical care at the Ventura County Medical Center for his numerous injuries. Late last night, the male victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. His name is being withheld until his family can be notified.
This is Oxnard’s tenth homicide of 2014 and the fourth in the last five (5) weeks. There are no indications that any of these four (4) homicides are connected in any way. The motive for this homicide is not known and investigators are continuing with the investigation.
